NSV Trip of a Lifetime!

I just got back from an 8 day fishing trip deep in the Amazon rainforest. I am half Brazilian (my mother), and when we went down to see the Brazilian family for Christmas 2014, my cousin invited me to join him on what is now his 3rd fishing trip. Prior to losing the weight, there is no way I would have considered a trip like this.
Two plane flights into Manaus, Brazil, then a 16 passenger prop plane into the Jungle to Barcelos. We got on a two-story river boat which was to be our home for the next 8 days!

Each day we were up at 5:30. on the water by about 6:30 and fish until sunset at 6pm, with a couple hour break for lunch either on a beach somewhere or back to the boat. Caught a bunch of fish, including the Peacock bass (Tucunare') which is the prized Amazon fishing target. Mast of the fish were catch and release, unless we were eating them at lunch or back on the boat for dinner.
With so much fish to eat and activity during the day, eating well was pretty easy (except for the beer!), but I cam back about 4 pounds lighter than I left!
It was a fantastic trip (except for the part where I got stung by the stingray), and I can't wait to do it all again in a year or two.
