Sudden surge in appitite

The past two days I've noticed that I'm not very hungry... until I sit down to eat and then I am demolishing 1000 calories at lunch and then the same for dinner. Except for carbs I'm not over restrictive on calories (yet) but am not thrilled with this sudden upswing in appetite.
Before you ask lol, yes, I'm a female and I'm on day 16 of a normal 28 day cycle (In fact, my calendar says today is ovulation). Could this be a factor? I've never tracked my eating and hormones except for PMS/ToM. ( I just looked at last month and on ovulation last month I came in at 50 calories under and reading my log, remember I didn't eat much that whole week).
Has this happen to anyone else before? How did you reign in back in? Thoughts on why it could be doing this to me? HELP!!

It should be self-regulating. You'll eat a lot for a couple days, then eat less than normal for a couple days.
At least, that's how it's supposed to work.0 -
Some days I eat over and other days I don't even hit 1000 calories.
I would expect it to balance out with other days.
But you could just think to make sure your not too low on sodium or fat. And make sure to slow down and give your body time tell you that you're full.
But overall, there are just hungry days and not hungry days..0 -
sunny has a really good point with the sodium and fat. it kinda sounds weird but some times when I'm ravenous I look at my sodium intake and I'm really low, I think my hunger is signaling my body to get more sodium in, at those times I cook up some bacon and it usually fills me up with only a couple of pieces, I think its the fat/salt combo that does it.0

I'll have to try that. I have upped my water intake to 10 glasses a day with the goal of 12 - 14 a day PLUS my body doesn't hang on to salt at all, maybe that's it. I have been going for things like pickles, deli meats and spicy things. I tend to get enough fat but I'm fairly sure I don't get enough sodium!
Pickles here I come!!0
