Metformin tolerance - do low B12 levels make it worse?

Does anyone have any experience/insights regarding a correlation between Metformin tolerance and B12 levels?

I've used Met 2 times long term for pcos. Both times I got extreeme muscle pain as time passes. Both times I ended up with regular b12 shots. I don't know what you mean by tolerance. Both times the gastric symptoms went away. Met does deplete b for some of us0

i'm not sure what you mean by met tolerance?
i take metformin for insulin resist. and i take mounds of B's because i have a MTHFR gene polymorphism and can't properly process B's. as far as i know, neither the met nor B's interferes with each other. i was on met years ago for infertility, and neither then nor now have i experienced stomach issues that i hear about from others.0 -
Since you asked.... "Metformin (aka, Notformin') tolerance" is just an euphemism for "abrupt, spontaneous, and sometimes percussive internal combustion" (and I don't even want to go down the path of "what's that short for?").
Seriously, there are people, like both of you, who don't have this particular affliction, and I keep hoping that there's something, or a combination of a few things, I will stumble upon other than handfuls of generic Imodium (which do work) to get the aftershocks under control.0 -

my dr told me to start at a low dose and slowly move up. i remember at first, i was taking about 100mg 2x/day, then moved up to 3x/day before increasing mg. if i remember correctly i ended up at about 1500mg/day back when i was on it before. the dr said the slower you increase, the less likely to experience stomach issues.
try taking it with benadryl + B6
at the same time. sometimes that is used by midwives for pregnant women with sever morning sickness, including stomach issues, etc.

I hadn't heard of benadryl or B6. I'll add them to my night-time dose, since benadryl makes me drowsy, and see how it goes.
Thank you very much for the suggestion.0 -
I do have low levels of B12 even now, more than a year after I started having meat every day (was a vegetarian before) but I never connected that with met side effects. Those disappeared when I changed from the generic form to Glucophage.

I did have that problem in the beginning. It eventually went away. Nothing like excusing yourself from clients quickly in mortal fear you may not make it. It did pass for me.0
