Anyone doing this program?

It seems like a pretty good very organized system. I like the concept.

Creating health thru eating healthy fats.

I have lost weight eliminating sugary junk food and starchy things. I have not focused as much on healthy fats.

What have you found to be healthy fats?

Oh yeah, I love eating protein and veggies. I just have not been into adding fats.

Anyone use MCT oil?

Thank you for sharing.

Butter, heavy whipping cream, coconut oil, bacon grease. Olive oil, avocado oil too! Cook with them, add them to coffee or tea. Many ways to incorporate healthy fats, and the health benefits are endless!!

If I understand, that program is essentially a lchf (low carb, high fat) plan. Pretty much all of us are doing that here. At least that's the idea.
Many start low carb by just lowering carbs and dont know about the fat aspect unless they come across the information somehow, like you did in that book.
I haven't read it, but I heard several podcasts with him recently discussing it. It's definitely in line with how I eat. I'm sure he gives specific details to follow. I don't follow any plan exactly. Just eat low carb, high fat.
I don't like following a "plan" or cooking from recipes. I just wing it. Lol

Yes - we all do it. Yes, I put MCT in my bulletproof coffee each morning, and also in every meal's green drink.

@Sunny_Bunny_ yes, no recipes for me either.

This link works as one of many good reads about the book title, it isn't exactly my WOE but it offers an option:

i have dr. hyman's program recorded on my DVR and i have watched about half. i also have a few books that mention his ideas. i like what he has to say.

What have you found to be healthy fats?
avocado, olive oil (first cold-pressed virgin), eggs, bacon, coconut oil (again, virgin and also organic)

    Anyone use MCT oil?
mct is medium chain glyceride, of which, coconut oil is one.

adding fats is ESSENTIAL to low carb. otherwise you will be eating too much protein.

MCT is made from coconut and palm or palm kernel oil. They are not all created equally and many fail to label the bottles so that you know what you're actually getting. Most of them still contain a good deal of lauric acid, which is a longer, medium chain along with caprylic and capric acids which are short chain and do not require any enzymatic breakdown, so they are immediately available for energy. The brain prefers these short chain fatty acids even over glucose. They are the ones being studied for treatment of Alzheimer's.
With that said, one is not necessarily better than another. It depends on your primary goal for using it. If you don't like coconut oil, using one that contains more types of fatty acids would be a great choice because lauric acid is very beneficial in its own way. If you want an energy boost, you can either just have more of the mixed type or just use one that only contains caprylic acid, and at a higher concentration. That's what I do as part of my treatment for ADHD.

I read his book last week. It's a very interesting book but nothing many other books haven't already said. He does have his own spin on it with a plan, but like others I don't follow any one diet. I do what works best for me. His diet is essentially a very healthy approach that I already follow the major points, but not completely the whole plan.

I do the LCHF moderate protein, eat primarily organic/grass fed whole foods,I focus on getting plenty of greens, and I avoid bad fats, processed foods, and high omega 6 processed oils. He is also keen on supplements like fiber, co q 10, omega 3, and MCT oils. This works great for me. Fat really is a great weight loss and health food. I am still trying to figure MCT oil though, personal on the fence about it.

However, his plan is not Keto, does allow some grains, but no dairy. Also, he allows very little caffeine, and no sweeteners especially the first 3 weeks (not even stevia unless you feel it is imperative). This part of his plan doesn't work for me.

    Thank You for the replies!

There are a few great grocery stores around the area and I will on some more higher fat food shopping

I picked up a bit of the things mentioned here in the theead

The infomercial for the books are well done so they seem great. As mentioned there are probably excellent books on Amazon that are much cheaper. Or free links even!

I will Amazon hunt the MCT oil!

Off to make bacon and eggs for breakfast!

    Thanks y'all
