I'm new to myfitnesspal and to the South Beach diet, which my doctor recommended. I'm going straight to the 2nd phase, since I have less than 10 pounds to lose, having just lost a lot of weight on Weight Watchers. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around how to make the transition. I'd appreciate any suggestions. How do you square SB, which doesn't count calories, with this app? How do you make sure you meet the SB requirements within the context of the app? Any suggestions on menu planning? I don't want to spend all my time in the kitchen. I understand the basic concepts of SB, I'm just not sure how to implement this. Thanks for any suggestions.

I just started Phase I myself, and yes, it's a LOT of time in the kitchen. The reality is unless you eat out a lot and can do menu modifications, you'll need to cook since the diet doesn't allow for many processed foods. Chipotle is a really easy option for eating out, as is the Whole Foods Food Bar that has a lot of Paleo-type dishes.

As for your question about counting calories, my plan is to follow the book to a tee, then start to log my foods on MFP when I finish the 14 days.

Thanks for your response. Good luck with Phase 1. I'll check the link you sent.
