Macros and calories

MFP pals... heh.
Question for all my macro aficionados out there.

Should you stress over your caloric intake if your macros line up close

Back story.
Trying to lean out a bit with a 2200 caloric intake and macros at (see my diary for %)

Currently I'm over +32 in caloric intake but macros are with 5% of each other.

I wrote some slight Adjustments and ended up with macros within 1% of goal but caloric intake is over +120ish

Is this something to stress over or no?

Thanks in advance and may your meals be big and your gains even bigger!

Are you looking for general health and lifestyle, or for competition? If the former, don't stress it. As long as you're close, things will go well. I personally track two things: protein intake and total calories. That's it. (I also have set to monitor carbs and sodium, but strictly for curiosity.) I've lost weight, gained muscle, reduced knee pain, and have a (generally) stress-free life (at least when it comes to food).

If you're prepping for a competition, you'll get different responses, and likely even more different depending if you're competing in powerlifting or bodybuilding.

Total calories, first and foremost IMO. Especially if your macros were really that close (~5%). Nothing's ever going to be perfect. The nutrition labels and measuring methods probably weren't perfect either.
