Anyone fast once a month?
I know some do the 16:8 IF thing. I know that once a month isn't for weight loss I'm looking for other reasons ....:and maybe a bonus of some improved insulin sensitivity!

You will definitely get the improved insulin sensitivity.
Have you watched any of Jason Fung's videos?0 -

I've read his book. Mixed reaction.
I started My low carb lifestyle 4 years ago to help postpone DM type 2(super bad genes for it) by managing my insulin response now.
Just wondering about people's experiences0 -
I have been dabbling in fasting. I started keto to help IR issues too, and I am finding my BG is going up again, particularly my fasting BG. I am basically looking for ways to avoid giving up eating in the evening. LOL. I like to eat late and I don't want to stop.
I tend to eat only fat ( coconut oil in coffee, maybe with a tablespoon of cream) prior to 2:00 or 3:00 in the afternoon. Then I have ate lunch, dinner and often a snack around 9:00pm. I like this pattern so I am playing with fasting a few days per week for 24 to 60 hours since my way of doing IF is not working well anymore.
For example, yesterday I had weak BPC (minimal cream and a bit of coconut oil) until 2:00 when I had a 1/3 c raw macadamia nuts and two pepperoni sticks. For dinner I had a sausage, some cooked red cabbage (~1/3c), and 2 oz cheese. At 9:30 I had pork rinds dipped in 14% sour cream. Pretty low carb, although junky, day. My FBG was a 6 this morning. I am not satisfied unless it is below 5.5.
Six month ago, this would have resulted in a 5.5 rather than a 6.
The fasting does fabulous things for my BG. By the end of the first day my BG is below 5.2 and may drop to 3 something by the end of the second day. I don't get many symptoms of hypoglycaemia unless my BG is a very low 3, and it is still mild.
My BG does seem to go higher again once I start eating again. I am not sure if this is normal or not. Either way, it is annoying.
Sorry I can't be of more help. I am still experimenting and haven't found that perfect eating schedule or diet yet.

You can do a lot more than postpone it
Think positive. The right diet will prevent that from being your fate.0 -
Things can definitely help and hopefully with better funding for research it doesn't have to be inevitable for many people...
