Ugh, having a horrible day, been fighting the urge to down several bowls of cereal today, I finally did cave when I saw the oatmeal cookies! I ate 4!!!! I have been staying under 20 net carbs, and usually average about 10-12, but today I just couldn't fight it anymore. So, how much damage is this going to do?? And this is completed for today, I will put nothing else in my stomach tonight except water! pr8bpjthe1i2.png

How much sugar (even artificial) are you eating? This makes me want to eat every thing in the house cereal number one on the list lol. Drink lots of extra water. U will be fine. If u can cut way back in any sugars for a few days all cravings stop for me

I have no sugar, I have completely cut it out. I use one drop of liquid stevia in my coffee, but that's all I use. I think it's just hormones, it's my first cycle since going low carb, and usually I ate tons of cereal.

The inability to resist is a bigger factor than that today didn't go as planned. One day isn't going to throw everything off, but regular occurances will.
The most important thing to do right now is figure out why you were craving cereal all day and why you couldn't resist the cookies.
Typically it's associated with having too much sweet tasting drinks or foods in your daily diet. Leaving you dissatisfied in general if you don't have a regular "sweet fix". So, consider artificial sweetener and packaged "Atkins" type foods and shakes a possible source of cravings.
Another common thing is not eating a high fat diet. Can't really do low carb and low fat. That will leave you very hungry. And the fats can't be margarine and vegetable oils either. Can't be all from dairy either. You need animal fats and coconut oil, olive oil, butter... Stuff like that.
One last possibility is low electrolytes. You need lots of sodium and probably a magnesium supplement as well. There's another thread dedicated to the electrolyte topic.

Yeah I love cereal too!!! But any sugar besides from veggies makes me crave more, I just had a weekend get away and had a little more than normal and I've not been able to stop yet.... Even if I have one sugar free worthers I want more for next 2 days!! It's crazy... But a lot of people can't cut it out completely so just do what works for u. Good luck!

Since you're still under 50 total, it might not affect you physically too much. But like pp said, figuring out why the cravings will make a big difference. I would up fats, for one; that will help.

Another thing that helped me, especially early on, is that when I started to crave something sweet/carby, I would shift my focus to an LCHF food to snack on, start thinking about how good that would taste, and then go for it. For me, something like a dill pickle, pepper jack cheese, certain kinds of tea with HWC, maybe spicy or salty almonds, etc., would help. I'd pick something salty or spicy, finding that foods that were really flavorful helped me shift focus from the sweet craving.

@mjt2908 remember no screw ups in the first 90 days get recorded. :) Serious what is so hard at first becomes simple. Just stay on the path and implement the new things you figure out or learn about.

This is a life change, not a race. Just stay in the lane and expect bumps to happen.

You are only one meal away from getting back on plan. You can do it. Just be aware when you eat something high carb it might kick in the desire for more high carb foods. I always have a good quality no sugar dark chocolate around for those moments!

Been there done that! Less than 2 weeks for me and had 2 not great evenings in a row. Alcohol being my downfall and then trigger for carb craving. Just need to accept that drinking and weight loss for me are mutually exclusive for awhile! But love galehawkins comment! First while is a learning curve for sure!

The important thing to do is make sure you put a prompt stop to the eating and get back on track. Don't give yourself a license to just keep going because you already made a mistake, we all know how hard it is to turn around once you go down that road. I find it's easier to turn that faucet off with this way of eating because I can switch from eating the carbs I really enjoy to eating the rich fatty foods I really enjoy instead, so I'm still getting pleasure from food, I don't have to go from eating a Snickers bar to eating rice cakes.

When I first started, immediately following the couple of carb binges I've had, and whenever I'm hungry or craving foods because of stress or hormones, I find really yummy LCHF foods that I enjoy to eat instead and I don't even stress the extra calories.

Keep calm and keto on !!

If it makes you feel any better I hit 153g of carbs yesterday because of cereal, I love the stuff! So I finished the box and will NOT be buying any more, it's impossible to resist for me.

Back on the wagon today, no damage done.
