Has anyone tried Intermittent Fasting as a Stratagy?

I know this idea might seem counterintuitive but Intermittent Fasting has really helped control my binges. I figured out that eating a little bit several times a day made me feel deprived. Now I fast for 16 hours after dinner which puts me about 11 am then I don't eat after 7:00 pm. I have a large satisfying meal eating exactly what I want about 600 calories and have another 600-700 calories at dinner. I only eat exactly what I want so I don't crave things. I would never have allowed myself to eat 600 calories at one time on purpose. I would always have an unplanned binge. Yes, I'm hungry for sure when I eat lunch but I've figured out that the earlier I eat, the more I want to eat. I get through the fast with hot tea, black coffee, fizzy water and bullion knowing that I have a big yummy lunch as my reward. Just a thought in case anyone wants to look into it.

For me, it did, but for the same reasons as you listed, but also due to my insulin resistance. Taking breaks from eating allowed me to reset my insulin sensitivity some, and by skipping lunch, it allowed me to avoid my afternoon sweets/junky cravings. It has been bliss. I don't do it all the time, I just do it when it happens naturally, that I'm not hungry, then it becomes a test to see if I can push it out an hour, another, etc. I use the same things to get through, but mainly just water. There is a certain level of peace that comes in with a water fast.

The reason I don't skip breakfast is because I have no gallbladder, and so my body releases a set level of bile constantly, and so if I go too long (more than 8-10 hours) without eating, I generally end up with explosive bathroom drama, so I kind of a do a split thing when I do this breakfast at 7 am, nothing but water until dinner at 7 pm, etc. Eating more for breakfast and dinner leave me very satisfied, and my hunger takes longer to resurface.

Boredom and stress eating must be well managed though!

Leigh, same experience here. The later I wait to eat, the better I feel and the less likely I am to overat. IF has relieved a lot of the associated tension from trying to monitor the total calories in several "small" meals.
