Gallbladder and LCHF

Had anyone had gallbladder issues while on the LCHF diet? Mine flared up again. The last one was in November. I was hoping not to have it removed but it looks like I may have to. How long did it take you to get back to the LCHF lifestyle?

I had my gallbladder removed in 2012, so I don't have any advice on the adjustment to LCHF right after removal, but it shouldn't be a problem once you've recovered.

I will say that it's a fairly easy (usually) surgery to recover from. After getting past the first couple of days of post op pain, the recovery can be very quick!

I hope you feel better! Gallbladder issues can be very painful! :frowning:

I've been without mine since 2006. Mine went kaput after losing 50 lb on the slim fast diet (I know, lol). My doctor said weight loss often causes gallbladder issues. Sorry you're feeling badly!

If you try to use coconut or MCT oil as a big source of your fats you should feel better. The shorter the fatty acid chain, the less bile is needed to break it down. The very short chains require no breakdown and are available for energy needs pretty much immediately.
This would allow you to eat slightly leaner meats and introduce more animal fat slowly over the next 6 months. I would expect your body to then adapt to be able to handle higher saturated animal fat with a slower integration in this way.

Thanks for the advice. I'll keep in mind when I go for it. Right now need to figure out insurance issues before scheduling.
