Newish to low carb diets. I've been doing 25% carbs for the past two weeks now. Amazingly, my body has more energy than it did before. I find myself waking up early hours of the morning ready to start my day. Waking up to lift weights at 3:30am is no problem.

However, I'm torn with sticking to it religiously. On most days, I just have a banana for breakfast and salad for lunch................but I just ordered drunken noodles today from the thai restaurant and MFP had it estimated at 90 something calories for just 8 ounces of it. Thats already over my daily limit  Three things I refuse to give up and WILL have on a weekly basis:

Korean bbq, drunken noodles, and bubble tea

Anyways, hello all.

Duuuuuude. Kimchi. Fried. Cauliflower Rice. (And pork belly & fried egg) Get that K-kick without the K-carbs.

Hi there! I loved Korean BBQ when I lived in the US, I miss it so much, there's not so much of it in Scotland. Totally not suggesting you give up your noodles, but if you do decide to go lower carb, Korean BBQ is one of the easier types of restaurants to do low carb at. We went to the all you can eat places and I skipped the rice and chowed down on the banchan, the fermented veg is super good for you. I'm a diabetic and the sugars in the meat marinades would mess with my blood sugar, but compared to Chinese food, which was my other Achilles Heel, Korean BBQ was definitely the better option. When I was eating at slightly higher carb levels, I loved making low carb bibimbap bowls, I'd just use cauli-rice as the base.

The place I frequest is all you can eat as well. They actually dont have that many veggie options and I dont eat cold veggies.

Usually get the veggie pancake, potatos, bowl of lettuce, and chow down the plethora of meat as I have it cooked in front of me.

I come out feeling I ate enough for a week

Welcome! As long as those foods don't give you problems, fit them in! This is your way of eating, not ours! Good for your successful results so far! I look forward to more reports of success!

Feel free to post photos of your meat grillin' in front of you! A little food porn may be the only K-BBQ gratification I can get for a while. I can't even get decent kimchi here and I'm just not ready to start making my own.

Well marinating your own meat is easy enough. I actually do my own korean bbq as well and have a table grill for my patio for nights i wanna enjoy the fresh air and project a movie against the patio wall. Lol

Yes, I miss barbecuing in general. Scottish weather isn't ideal for outdoor grilling. And indoor grilling is out of the question, I already set off the fire alarm every time I sear a steak in my cast iron pan (it's ridiculously sensitive, hard wired in so I can't remove it and the ceiling is so high I need to climb a big ladder to get to it, so I just continue to annoy my neighbors).

But I do make my own banchan, the basic stuff that doesn't require actual fermentation. I know you don't like veggies OP, but if anyone else is interested, there are some great recipes at http://www.maangchi.com/recipes/banchan I just skip the sugar if it's an ingredient or you could just sub whatever sweetener you use.

I use to love BBQ pulled pork but the sweet and spicy BBQ here in TN is so full of carbs that I don't do it anymore. Now there is a vinegar based BBQ from the Carolinas that should be very low carbs. I just haven't found a recipe that I like yet.

Glad to hear you found a way to fit in your favorites.
