Can't say NO to sugar free (artificial sugars)

I decided since I was so close to goal I would start trying to ease in to maintenance... So I've allowed a few more cals here and there and added artificial sugars (sugar free) to my diet (don't ask why I have no clue...in my journey I have already learned not to) since adding it back I am hungry a lot more.... In between meals (never had this unless i eat sweets ugh). Now for last week I'm finding it so hard to stop the sweets... It doesn't help I made a sugar free cream brûlée that's got 6 servings left lol. The struggle with hunger is real... After one bite of sweets to me... I will get back on track I'm to hardheaded to let the sugar beat me but I hope this can help someone else to just say NO to the sweets artificial, sugar free what ever just say NO!!
Have any of you experienced this sugar craze? I don't mean for sweets I mean just makes me hungry... Lol

I get it from certain things. Most of the sugar free stuff I'm good with but sometimes the candies, and only certain ones will cause it. I've found some decent dark chocolate with real sugar tends to work better for me that stuff sweetened with malitol and the like.
I'm wondering if it's hormone related and if certain times of the month trigger that reaction because of what is already going on in my body. Which may explain why it doesn't happen every time.0 -
Yes. Oh yes...
I'm doing all animal April (AAA) partially as an attempt to reset my taste buds again. If I have a little, I want a lot.0 -
I definitely did that same thing and had the same result as you and I'm pretty sure I warned you about it when you asked about sugar free Wherthers...1

I just tossed out 1/2 a sheet of low carb brownies and a bunch of low carb coconut ice cream in made because I was starting to obsess about them and thinking that blowing the roof off my calories would be okay because it's all "within my macros"...I'm pretty leery about anything that is a low carb version of a high carb food favourite because I can't say no either.0

I cannot live with out my Pepsi Max - it's my one crutch! I managed 1 month without it on a healthy eating diet and it was awful for me!! I almost caved on the diet completely - and I did actually finish it early as I missed my nice drinks (plain water just doesn't cut it for me)
Since going back to Pepsi Max I have to say I have not noticed any difference in my hunger or sugar cravings.. what I HAVE noticed weirdly though it the last 3 or 4 days i've been eating sugar free jelly in the evenings.. and I find I am craving that quite regularly throughout the day. Strange that it happened with that and not the soda though!0 -
Hummm i don't know as I've never been a big soda drinker. Is that Pepsi max a diet soda? Things I know that triggered me were artificial sugar "sugar free" things. I just assumed it was sugar things but I've yet to try the real sugar so don't know if they will give me the same hunger feelings. Now you got me wanting to try it lol.0

lol - My Pepsi Max is the zero (2 actually) calorie one with the dreaded aspartame..(I know!)
But no sugar cravings with it, I am sure! Definitely sugar cravings with Sugar free Jelly (Jello) though! I also did Whole30 not long ago if you have heard of it... I realised how bad my sugar addiction was then.. I suffered withdrawal badly.. and soon realised I couldn't even have fruit without wanting more and more... it started to taste so sweet and lovely (never been a big fan of fruit) that I was starting to get through 3 or 4 oranges a day (plus others) That's when I knew I had a problem! I couldn't have Pepsi Max on that.. and it really did me in. Then I tried Atkins and brought my Pepsi Max back and didn't have any cravings until I started having the jelly a few days ago.. odd! I would imagine real sugar would be worse though...well from personal experience for me it definitely is!0 -
For me:
Sweeteners = hungry
Sweeteners = cravings
Sweeteners = happy gut for candida, bad for good guys
Enough said. Avoiding them.1 -

Same for me1 -
Sugar free jello did it to me to... Find it odd the soda doesn't but what ever works! I have had some berries this week and haven't noticed a big craving change but like the sugar free coffee sweaters (which I don't even like) caused hunger to flare up. It's crazy but I will get to the bottom of it for my self.0

Yeah it's just about experimentation isn't it - I'm thinking maybe the "eating" of the sugarfree jelly as opposed to the "drinking" of the soda maybe sets off something in me, lol. You'll work it out!0

I find the opposite. Diet Pepsi, Crystal Lite, and tea with artificial sweeteners help keep me from going all out on carbs.0

I think that's the way it affects me too0 -
I made LC mini cheesecakes the other night. I've never been a fan of artificial sweeteners and after the effects of the maltodexdren in the sf jello, I'm even less a fan now. Natural sugar free is my only way to go... or invest heavily in toilet paper.0
