I thought this was interesting,
http://thediabetessummit.com/
I'm still checking out some of the speakers, but I am already familiar with some. There is a free option.
Edited to add: I am pleasantly surprised at the number of LC speakers on the list.

Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing!
I'll send my sister a link so that she can continue to ignore the need to take care of herself.0 -

>Sigh< Of course, if she wants to find diet recommendations that allow her to keep eating comfort food, she won't have to look far...0 -
Thank you! I plan on listening to some of this.0

That's it exactly.
But she kills me! One day she said she needed to sit down with me to learn how she should be eating. The next day I sent her some links on Facebook to read. I never heard a word about it. She didn't comment on the links or "like" any of them. What worse is NOBODY ever "liked" any of them. But if I share a food that looks good, dozens of those darn likes show up and comments like "yum" in abundance!0 -

I just don't get it. No one would pour sugar in their car's gas tank, so why would a diabetic dump it into her own body?
Determined denial can be pretty darn hard to overcome.
Off topic, we started feeding grain-free cat food to our brood several years ago when one of our rescues started showing food allergies. We ultimately settled on duck-based food, and while it's pricey, they eat less of it and have generally not had any weight problems, even the older ones. Haven't tested them for ketones, though....0 -

In my sisters case, I believe it comes down to sugar addiction. I really do. I tried to get her to just make 1 change. I asked her to stop drinking the 1 glass of Sprite that she has every night. And to drink Sprite Zero instead. She did it 1 night. Took no more than a few drinks, then poured it out and went to the store to buy regular Sprite because "it tastes bad". Then I asked her to mix regular and zero 75/25 and slowly decrease the regular every day until that one 2-liter was gone. She wouldn't even try it.
Then she started telling me about how she was going to try some 21 day It Works plan that was like $150 or something. I asked how she was going to go 21 days without her Sprite if she couldn't even do it 1 day. She said she didn't have to change anything about how she ate on the plan. Just use their products...
I am happy to say that I was able to show her the reasoning behind that horribly faulty idea and as far as I know she didn't waste her money.

You are very kind to persist in your efforts to bring her 'round, notwithstanding her absurd degree of change resistance and denial.
She's hardly unique, as you know. Every provider I see has stories of patients with worsening eyesight, neuropathy, infections, etc., who for whatever reason can't be persuaded to undertake any significant dietary changes. Very sad.
(Of course, I'm hardly one to wag my finger about unhealthy behaviors, having adhered to a low-fat diet for over two decades.....)0
