How many calories do you consume?

When I did my macros initially it was suggesting a menu plan of 2040 cals (15% deficit) which frightened me So I went with the same macros, but reduced the cals to 1600.
The first week I lost 7lbs of water weight, week two ½ lb and I seem to be sitting at a standstill for the past two weeks. I'm tracking on MFP and keeping my macros pretty on point . I’m using the keto sticks and am showing on the purple to dark purple every day, one day I went into pink, but I was out the night before and had a cocktail followed by lots of water to flush what I could.
I’m loving the way I feel on this plan emotionally, skin has cleared, next to no gas and enjoying the satisfying foods. I do get nibbly after dinner but I’m trying to squash that with tea as I know it’s my head and not hunger.
The idea of upping cals terrifies me but I’m wondering if it’s really holding me back.
For the most part I’m not hungry so I’m wondering how am I going to even consume more??

I typically only consume 1000 to 1200 calories. On very rare occasions I go above 1100.0

My goal is 1,660 and I eat more if I exercise.
This is relevant: Male, age 30, 170 lbs., sedentary lifestyle.0 -
1800, but I exercise most days and don't eat back exercise calories (unless I'm starving). My recommended intake for 20% (I think!) under TDEE was 2,300. Also a scary number!
I lose better on 1800 than I do on the 1400 I used to eat. You might look at a little bump, and see if that helps. Or, just keep in mind that weight loss is not linear, and you will have plateaus here and there.0 -

You have an estimated TDEE of 2,400 calories a day and are eating 1,600? Which is a 33% deficit. That is a big deficit and can cause really inconsistent weight loss as your body is under increased stress and cortisol and other hormones are going to be trying to compensate for the famine they believe is happening. You will lose weight, even under these stresses, but it will be harder and less consistent.
I know eating a lot is scary. But, give it a shot. The worst that can happen is you lose at a slower rate.0 -
I don't track anymore (very recent change) and always eat til in satisfied. I have no idea how many I'm currently eating.
I did count and even obsessively weigh my food at a point when I became frustrated with "stalling". I was absolutely sure I must been eating too much. Lol well, it didn't seem to matter how much I ate or didn't eat because I even did a 2 day fast and still didn't get me anywhere.
Since I stopped tracking and am only concentrating on eating when I'm hungry and only until satisfied, not stuffed, I have lost more weight in the first few days than I had in the past month! I think there is a bit stres involved with logging in my situation. Because I just let go of the idea that I needed to know how much it was and I needed to "control the numbers". And to be honest, I wasn't nearly as concerned with the scale as the average person even at that point. I had already learned the scale is a lying liar pants!
I also made a diet change and started carnivore on April 1. But I stopped logging and ate like normal from March 22 until then. I lost over a full pound in less than a week before I started carnivore. I hadn't lost more than half a pound in a week in I don't know how long!
A half pound a week would be a fantastic rate for me with only 8 pounds to goal! So, I have to think that my ability to relax and not stress the calories made the difference.
Stress will stall you big time! And I don't even just mean mental stress. Over exercising, not getting sleep, digestive issues... All kinds of things can create the stress response from the body that messes with you.0 -

I don't think that's what that would mean.
The basic idea is the darker the color, the more ketones you are making. That could be true, but it could also be extra dark if you're making ketones at a lower rate and are a bit dehydrated, allowing the acetoacetate to build up in your urine with infrequent urination.
Also, someone that is making ketones can test negative in a situation where acetoacetate doesn't accumulate in the urine much because of frequent urination due to hydrating a lot.
So, you can literally water down or overly concentrate the test result based on how much water you are drinking and how often you urinate.

Make sure to set your lifestyle to sedentary if you are using the ankerl calculator. Very few people legitimately fit the other qualifications.
I had mine set to 1300 and sometimes would eat 1100, sometimes 1600. Technically I'm not counting calories but it's really, really hard.
Also, since I don't weigh my food I am probably eating more than I think.
Now, I am trying to listen to my body more so I think that might cause me to eat less (as before 300 calories left over when counting meant I could have a "treat" even if not legit hungry.)0 -
1200-1400/day
5'1" sedentary (sit at a computer all day)0 -
Is peanut butter something that fits in to this WOE? Any negatives that i should be aware of because it looks good on the label.0

I eat around 2500 when I computed it for someone saying it was wrong. Dr. Fung drives home the science if we under eat we are going to fail in a major way over time. I proved that over a 40 year period and almost killed my health doing so.
Under eating can ONLY lead to weight gain per medical science (Dr. Jason Fung).0 -

I tcan be too carby for some people but if you can make it fit your macro and calorie goals than go for it. There's concern in some camps about peanuts (legumes in general), so if you want a broader perspective you might find value in the points they make:

I ate 1350/day (plus half or more of exercise calories) while in weight loss mode. 5'7" sedentary when not exercising.
I've been in maintenance for several weeks now. I gradually increased to 1650/day but now I'm doing Ad Lib April so I'm not really logging.
I personally do eat peanut butter at times, though I prefer almond butter. I wish almonds weren't so pricey though! (I do like making my own almond butter. It's really easy in a food processor and IMO it tastes better than store-bought.)0 -
I went back into loss phase to get another 20lbs after maintenance for 3 years. I am currently at 13000

Thank you, kirkor and macchiatto for peanut related posts.... my decision is "it works today".0

So thanks for all the suggestions/guidance.
For kicks and giggles I ventured off and tried another ankerl calculator and came up with another result from my first, so I came back here and recalculated at the original calculator and resulted in the same – no idea how I came up with the first amount of 2040 cals.
My starts height is 5'4", currently 250 lbs and 40% BF
So calculator wise I should be about 1600 Cals 20 g Net Carbs (5%, 80 kcal) , 90 g Protein (22%, 360 kcal) , 132 g Fat (73%, 1189 kcal). Likely why I wasn’t feeling hungry.
As per the keto sticks, I do drink fair amount of water (3-4 ltrs?) plus peppermint tea so I don’t think I’m dehydrated.
Today I’m trying my intermittent fasting for the first time to try and kick start my system and to think about how I’m feeling, not it’s lunch, must eat. I will focus on my feeling of Satiety and not eating till hungry – the need to know numbers is really to get me into the headspace that I’m not under or over doing it.
I’m hoping to lose at least 70lbs and am fine with slow and steady….but steady is key, I want to keep this woe because to me it makes sense and I don’t get the food obsession thing happening as with other plans – I’d rather not be thinking of when/where is my next meal coming from but be happy to eat 2x a day .
oh and I need to keep peanut butter and nuts out of sight - Hello my name is Ketozing and I'm a nutoholic!0 -
