It can be a side effect of dry skin from dehydration...but also, make sure you wash and scrub really well after any workout, even if you don't sweat, because you're likely to be burning fat, and that "residue" that I can't tell is even there feels like almost an acid burn or a terrible sunburn...

Not that this info is terribly important but the word for what you are describing is: "forMication"...yes, you read that right...with an "M"...not an "N." lol

@ladipoet I did read about that. But I do not have any of that stuff that I am aware of. I need it to stop. I was digging at my head so bad in school. I would go into the bathroom to flip my head over so i could scratch the hell out of it. I swear it is worse than lice. My poor boyfriend checked our apartment for bugs because I was going crazy last night. He said I made him itch and he was at work. Someone suggested that it could be allergies because the cottonwoods are blooming which jack me up bad. Not sure about mulberry.. I have never experienced this before.

Try a benadryl maybe. If its dry skin though, coconut oil can help

I cant take benadryl because that stuff makes me feel like I took speed. I took my prescription allergy meds and my anxiety meds. I read it can be caused from stress. I will make sure I pay attention tomorrow of everything I do. This has never happened before. So stress could definitely be a factor considering the semester is coming to an end and I graduate next month.

Any new medications, or supplements? Sounds like a medication allergy to me. The only fix is to pinpoint the culprit and eliminate it! So sorry for your misery! Itching sucks, and is contagious too!

Soak in Epsom salts. It might be electrolytes.

Off the wall - but have you had your liver enzymes checked recently?

My daughter itched for years - she told me it felt like she was allergic to her blood. Her legs were a bloody mess a lot of the time. We had no reason to suspect a liver disease, at that point, but that was the cause.

We currently refer to it, when it starts up, as "the creepy-crawlies" - which is why your description struck a nerve. She can't stand to have anyone else touch her when she gets them.

Okay so the itching happened again the following day but not near as bad. My only guess is that it was caused from all the stress I was under or an allergy to something. I have been taking my allergy medicine and my anxiety medicine every day since. Man it was crazy. My poor boyfriend.. I had him checking the entire house. I had head lice as a kid. This was worse. I was sitting in class digging at my head. crazy

@neohdiver Matter of fact I have had my liver enzymes checked at least 3 or 4 times in the past 3 years. Three times because I was stabbed 3years ago. oh and then again like 8 months ago. Surprisingly I would have connected those dots because when my mom went out of remission that was how she knew before she even had her enzymes tested. She itched really bad.

    It sounds dreadful! My sympathies.

Another shot in the dark - I had unexpected relief from a minor case of the itches when I was prescribed a small dose of the anitdepressant amitriptyline to combat a bout of sciatica. It not only let me get a full night's sleep, but it got rid of the virtual ants as well.

    I am in awe!

I'm continually amazed at the things I learn from the sages in this group, but this really takes the cake. (And I mean a real keto-busting German chocolate cake....)

Now I can use "fornication" in a limerick.

My sympathies. I checked myself for lice (I had to pay someone because my hubby was overseas) and I washed everything every night for weeks thinking it was bed bugs or something. I still cannot look at my winter coat without shuddering. Turned out to be a menopause symptom! Not that I am suggesting that but may be hormones. But I think your feelings that it is stress is probably right on the mark.

Dieting is stressful to the body and sounds as if you have a good deal of stress in your life at the moment. I also suggest epson salt baths and coconut oil. And hang in there; this too shall pass.

PS Mom was right. The more you scratch the itchier you become. Try to find something that relieves it so you don't scratch.
