Glycerine in "low-carb" food - how to evaluate?

Does anyone have any recent info on the effect of glycerine (aka, glycerol) on ketosis, insulin, blood glucose, etc? It seems to pop up quite frequently in what appear to be LC foods.

Surprise, surprise, knowledgeable-sounding sources conflict.

For example, compare https://www.smartbodynutrition.com/health-tips-sugar-alcohols.html (not much effect) with http://www.biologicnr.com/gambling-with-glycerine-carbohydrate-or-not/ (delayed but significant carb impact).
