Hi there. I'm Cari, 43y/o single female, no children, no fur babies and NO real reason in this world I cannot get this weight off. I've had all 3 bariatric surgeries. 2009- banded (got sick for 3 years before finally having it removed); 2012- sleeved; 2015 RNY. I was tired of fighting with my weight and was told by multiple doctors that my years of yo-yo dieting has my metabolism so jacked up, surgery or something drastic would have to restart it.
At my heaviest in 2007 I weighed 411.5lbs. As of this morning I'm 281.0lbs. I for one wish I had never ever had bariatric surgery. Now in life I cannot enjoy rice, pasta, bread. Now depending on what plan you follow, this may be a good thing for you. I currently follow weight watchers smart points which allows all 3 of these in small amounts. They make me physically ill.
I lost 98lbs in 2000-2001 in 9 months. I know I can do this on my own. (Well not without support) but without the need for surgery. But my insides are all rearranged now and nothing I can do about it.
I've had a LOT of stuff thrown at me in the last 6 months. My father had open heart surgery to save his life and while being operated on, he had a stroke. He's getting better day by day. My best friend in the world...my fur baby...my daughter was euthanized 04/10/2016. She was in CHF and had stopped eating for us. My mother has to have surgery soon and we were told flat out, she may not make it through. On top of all of this, I am scheduled for back surgery 06/14/16. I have not been able to exercise in years. Walking hurts. With everything that's been thrown my way, sometimes I feel like just giving up and staying where I am. But I know if I do, I risk cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol.... NONE of which I have right now. Healthy but fat is what I am currently.
I know I need to do something. I'm currently working on creating the best plan for me.

Hi Cari, welcome to the group! I'm new to the group (and to being interactive on the forums in general). I'm sorry for all the struggles you've been going through recently. That's enough stress to send most people over the edge so I do want to say that I'm really impressed that you are determined to find the right path for your own goals with weight loss. However, with your upcoming surgery and your parents' health issues weighing heavily on your mind, I do hope you take care of yourself the best way possible.
In the very short time I've been in this group, I've found the people here to be very welcoming and supportive. I'd like to to reciprocate and offer as well, so please feel free to add me as a friend if you don't mind random comments/journal notes that I may write, depending how my day happens to be going.0 -
