Odd bits that changed

I've been on this lowcarb and IF since September 2014. I looove the big NSV threads. But it struck me the other day, that I wash my hair much less than before. It doesn't get greasy even with many days passed.
So it got me thinking of other odd details that's changed. And I'd love to hear of other's experience as well Here's my list so far:
- Very ungreasy hair.
- less or weaker body hairs
- the dark spots in armpits are gone
- an old injury on the shin was blue for years after the accident. The discoloration is noticeably reduced.
On the negative side, but that could be due to general aging and or still unresolved metabolic issues.
- more and bigger freckles on body.
- I have started to get "liver spots", normally seen on much older people.
If anyone knows why these things happen or have the same, I'm curious.

Thanks for starting this thread!
Considering the substantial impact of LC+IF on aspects of our health to which we pay close attention, it figures that other organs would also affected.0 -
I've been told "liver spots" is just sun damage. Wear some sun screen...especially on your hands2

I've not been Keto long but already noticed the little goosebumpy things by my elbows have disappeared. I have sensitive skin and noticed other areas smoothing out.4

So many changes! The best is almost no fibromyalgia pain!! The latest thing I have noticed is the vertical ridges in my fingernails are going away!! Unexpected for sure! Can't wait to hear more!6

I had a "geographic tongue" since birth. It looked like ulcers on my tongue and could be painful some days. They are gone and my tongue is a healthy pink.
Had a large varicose vein developing on my thigh- it's 90% gone
My hair is thicker and I lose less when brushing it out after a shower.
No more exercise induced asthma.
The changes have been incredible.8 -

Congrats!
How long did it take for these changes to take place?0 -

Now that you mention it, I have noticed that I am less greasy, and often have less body odor too. I can't say that I'e noticed the other things that you've mentioned.Today is my 37th day. Hard to believe a 50 year old body could respond so quickly. Wish I had known about LCHF 30 years ago!! Could have saved myself years of starvation.
That's how I feel about it too! I wish I could turn back the clock.2 -
My eczema on my hands totally cleared up!2

This is a really interesting thread...!
I have a few odd but good things i've noticed too...
My tummy button doesn't get clammy any more (weird, and DON'T ask why it used to... I have no idea!)
I didn't get any spots during my lead up to TOM
My libido is definitely up!

Weird! I thought I'd noticed less hair on my arms lately, but dismissed it as just seeing things.
I have definitely noticed the kp on my arms has faded though, so that's a plus. And my heels aren't as dry.3 -
The expectations I had were so wildly optimistic that I thought I'd be happy if only a fraction of them came true. Instead I got all of my expectations (weight loss, diabetes reversed etc) and some bonus unexpected changes:
* My feet's skin went from very rough and dry to smooth and healthy. I went from a pedicure treatment every two weeks just to keep the fissures under control to an occasional treat that is really not necessary. My diabetes nurse is amazed at the difference.
* Same with my elbows, the dry patch is gone.
* My hair is stronger.
* I have less and thinner hair on my arms and legs.
My emotional and psychological changes have been at least as impressive as the physical changes that can be measured in weight lost or lab test results. Most days I feel confident and hopeful and when I relapse into old patterns I understand that those will change for the better as long as I trust the process.
I don't know how bad or how depressed I looked before but people comment not only on my weight loss but also on my energy and happy mood and how "healthy" I look. Bear in mind that I still need to lose at least 35kg/±75lbs!
My guess is that as we get healthier mind and body communicate better, be it because of hormones approaching normal levels or whatever other processes going on and that shows.

I need to take the time to reinventor my gains.
While I have not had net gain/loss for a year now my stability is much better. Right after I stand up for the first time each day I weight. The scales no longer tell me to stop weaving around.
For a long time I had to hold on to something when stepping onto the scales and to stabilize my balance. Now I just step on and stand still as soon as I get out of bed.8 -
So many big health benefits.
I wish I was in the no-greasy club! My skin on my feet and elbows is much softer, even without moisturizing. Libido is more stable. I used to have BO that smells like onions leading up to TOM. That's gone! Less nightmares.2 -

The dark armpits that are gone means that most likely your pancreas is healing. Getting darker skin in any of your "crease" areas, including eyelids, is a sign of an overworked pancreas.
On the less greasy hair thing, I've switch to cowashing (using shampoo once ever month or so, and only using conditioner the in between washes) - it's a whole movement, worth looking up if you enjoy ridding your body of toxins!6 -
One weird thing I noticed was I don't have gunk in my ears like I used to. Now if I use a Q-tip, it is just to dry in the ear, not to wipe out gunk.2
-
I never thought much about it but now when I dry my ears with a Q-tip they come out white too unlike before. I will pay attention to see if that is all of the time.0
-
Subtle changes like this can become awesome! Who else just checked their ears? Lol! I did! I also looked at my feet, and the heels are smooth! I've had an area of thickened skin above the heel on one foot for years, and it's gone too! Yay LCHF!!1

This is a change I just noticed in the frig.
Around Christmas I picked up half gallon of Silk Cashew no sugar added milk. It was winter but I had left in 3 days in a black car so that concerned me bit but as of the other day I had never opened it and I told the wife or daughter to just and try to see if the animals might drink it.
Tonight there were two cartons of the cashew milk so I tasted the open one and liked it. Then I got to looking at the dates and its expiration date was back in Feb so it was the one I bought.
Someone in the house opened it and drank most of it and purchased another carton with exp date of July. Someone is also hitting my HWC from time to time. A subtle change must be happening with one or two skim milk only drinkers.
LCHF must be rubbing off on others in the house in some small way. I have been eating this way since Oct 2014.

Victory! (Even if wandering into your LCHF territory started as a guilty pleasure rather than a virtue!)
Install a Keto-cam in your fridge?6 -

This is awesome news! I had very dark shadows under my breasts for years, very unsightly, and they're just gone. I kind of thought it was just age and didn't even notice when it happened but the skin is now uniform in colour.

Sigh. My hair didn't get any thicker.
Still look just like Yul Brenner.

Bumping for @Leanbean651
-
Con: I have clothes that are too big.
Pro: I can fit into my leisure suit again.6 -
My teeth don't feel scummy (don't worry, I still brush and floss!); I don't get irritated red bumps after shaving; my skin feel softer overall; my nails aren't brittle the way they used to be.3
-
My fingernails have definitely gotten stronger. I've not noticed much else but feel my mood has elevated and I feel I am much more in tune with what is going on around me. In less of a "fog", I guess.3
-
These are all interesting. I have noticed that hair/nails thing (thickening/strengthening) over time (I've only been keto just over a month, but was eating mostly clean/whole for almost a year).
TMI (ladies' stuff)Yesterday, I got my period two days early, and have had only one brief bout with cramps today. I normally get them for the first two days, and they are solidly present, so I have to medicate constantly, take longer hot showers, and/or use a heating pad. Any other ladies notice changes in this area from LCHF/keto?3
