On potassium

I just came across this new study:
http://www.mayoclinicproceedings.org/article/S0025-6196(16)00047-1/abstract
introductory video:

It's ironic how while on one hand the mainstream media still present the paleolithic diet as a "fad", on the other hand medical researchers seem to consider already taken for granted its health benefits

This is a terrific and timely post, since I've just started looking at supplementing potassium and magnesium intake due to muscle cramps in my legs. Thank you very much for sharing.0

GIANFRANCO..THANKS!!!
I see my new neph this week will take this article.
they focused on CKD, which I have at Stage 3b, as a sole kidney patient, post nephrectomy.
Most GRF (globular filter rates) are well over 90-120.. for CKD with far fewer nephrons filteting you get >60 and begin strict watch over diet/any excess meds of any kind that can harm. >30 is Stage 4, >15 is Stage 5 and prep for dialysis.
Avoiding potassium in my daily diet is easier if I eliminate meat..which they mention here as a plant based diet…since meat has SO MUCH more pot/phos than veggies you can have MORE veggies like spinach, high in Pot. once meat is gone.
I don't take calcium binders,( and saw they only help 30% anyway) and am trying to control gradual decline in function ( happens to us all up to death ) but for me avoiding dialysis, and illness due to very poor function is critical.
I CAN'T see the article abstract, so will have to search for it another way, new meds that can be used by CKD patients is interesting, as there is no treatment, period, to date.

PUBMED.GOV has many studies in VVLP diet (vegetarian) with amino acids can provide the muscle building, without the damage of too low protein. Plant based diets are highly recommended the lower your numbers.
I follow a LCHF plant diet, with eggs and cheese, nuts, dairy (all high in phos/pot) and <50 carbs of real foods only a day..and was able to lose weight, and lower BG, and raise function..fats do not harm me, preferable to any carbs like crackers, rice, cereals, etc.
this online Pub has MANY articles for the layperson, clearly explaining CKD, diet.
HERE IS THE ARTICLE POSTED ABOVE
