May 2016 Walking Challenge

I am jumping the gun...I know ...but I have time tonight to sit and think about goals for May. And actually I am thinking about June too!! I am retiring soon and I need to keep myself working on my health goals. The next couple of months will be busy cleaning out my files and desk. Some travel will interfere with my walking so will have to be diligent.

I hope everyone doesn't mind the change. I just thought it would be easier to check in ...

Happy Spring everyone...

I think it's a great idea!! I finish up with my training in another 3 weeks, so I should be to a set schedule that I set! :) That does mean another inconsistent few weeks for the first part of May, though. Last year's # was 125.08. That means my goal for this year is another 130. Guess I can try to make up for April. :) I have to go back to my MD for a 6 month follow-up and for a screening for work/insurance before the end of this month, so I have to get serious about making changes that stick. I am rededicating myself to my morning workouts, regardless of what I have to do during the day.

So, May goal: 130 miles, 10 days at 5+, and 12 gym/formal workout days - that's 3 a week, and the plan that I originally set for myself and have strayed from a little.

So April was rough. I stopped keeping up with my goals mid month to try to focus on balance in other areas of my life. Since it was the first month back at work since I had my daughter I was (still am) working on my new "normal". I'm going to lower my goals for May, hoping it will motivate some early morning walks (which are extra difficult with 2-3 feedings per night still).

    May goals:
    Steps: 225k
    Miles: 90 mi
    Daily step goal: 6k
    10 9k+ days

I'm really looking forward to when I can get 100 mi per month but don't want to keep falling short of my goals. Maybe June will be the lucky month :-)

Way to pick it back up, bananas! It's tough when you set goals, but don't make them. I do that a lot! LOL...have to look at the bright side of it, though. I missed my April goal by a lot, but when I looked back at my calendar where I have the years compared, I had my best month so far this year. :) When your normal feels like a roller coaster, it's hard to get in a routine! (And I'm sure that little one has plans different from what you plan!) Keep walking with her and she'll get to where she doesn't want to miss the mama time/movement! Then you'll have an alarm to get up and move!!

May 1 was not a good day. I'm still nursing the ankle and just felt run down. (Probably because I have been eating like crap and not working out...anyway....) I've already gone to the gym this morning and have beat yesterday's number...LOL...I'm also having a bowl of oatmeal and getting my behind back on track.

    1 - 1.83 miles.

While I missed my April walking goal, I did lose 5 lbs so that keeps me motivated. :+1:

    5/1 8310 / 3.41

Hit today's goal before even sitting down at my computer to work. Family walk to Starbucks :-). Hoping that will help me hit my stretch goal!

Hi all... Goals are tough - especially when we have to juggle work and home demands. I try to do the best I can - I like to make or better my previous goal. On that note... whew!! My May miles last year were 130.6.

May goal - 130 miles and 10 over 10,000 steps. I finally made the 10 over 10,000 steps in April - first time ever (tooting my horn a little :)

Way to go Lilymay!! That 130 is a beast...as I learned last month! We are in this together this month! :) And way to go on the 10K days!! I feel like it shouldn't be as hard as it is, but it's rough!

That is awesome bananas! Seeing progress is always motivating! Keep it up!

Well...I've given myself a bit of a deficit to work on, but at least I'm checking in early in the month to know it!! LOL...I have my f/u MD appt this Friday, then next week is my final week of classroom activities in the new job! Hallelujah! :)

    Here's the damage:

    5 - 2.67
    6 - 2.3
    7 - 5.01
    Total as of 7th - 23.23, 2/10, 3/12

Hmmm...I've been getting a sync error and it's not showing any steps since Sunday. I haven't checked the #, only that it was counting (I have the flex that just shows lights, not a #). Ugh...I'm trying to manually sync and hopefully I didn't lose a couple of days. :(

What a great couple of days at the TOPS PRD. Our walk yesterday morning was with a Leslie Sansone certified walk instructor. Nice to catch up with friends in other chapters and to come home with inspiration and a renewed commitment.

I managed to get rid of the sync error, but my Fitbit has died 2x in the past week. :( I've not been very good this past week. This coming week, we have testing...then next week, I am on my own and working from home. :) Our first week is going to be easy...not getting a full caseload, and only getting the people that we see twice a year. Getting time to settle in, and will be shadowing the more complicated cases for a few more weeks.

I hope your testing goes okay. Once work schedule settles in you will be able to get your walking in.

Yeah!!! it finally rained. This is the first rain we have had since the snow left. Probably not enough to lift the Fire Ban for the long weekend, but everything looks clean and the dust is settled for a few hours!!

Glad to see you all sticking to it and doing well this month! The last 2 weeks were a whirlwind here. I thought I would get to be better during my first week at home, but I had to spend most of the week at my desk reviewing my cases. I was given 88 charts to become familiar with. I have absolutely no idea where I'm at, but I know it's not good...I didn't even hit 2 miles some days!!! Here we go:

    15- 1.47
    16 - 2.39
    17 - 2.79
    18 - 2.31
    19 - 2.51
    20 - 2.94
    21 - 5.03
    22 - 2.51
    23 - 1.73
24 - 0.92 (My fitbit died and I didn't realize it until late in the day when I checked.)
    25 - 2.58
    26 - 2.35
    27 - 4.73

    Total = 81.0, 3/10, 5/12 (I stopped counting formal workouts, but I'm pretty sure I didn't have any! LOL)
