Hi, all. It's sunny here in Brownsville, TX. I took my mom to church this morning. That's as much as she's going to do today. My brother is coming to relieve me this afternoon so that I can get the grocery shopping done for my mom before I head back home tomorrow. There is a slight chance of rain but not much. It feels very much like spring here. Lots of flowers blooming everywhere and the sounds of birds chirping as well. It makes me want to go for a long walk, but my only walking this weekend will be indoors.1

When my daughter was born I took all the weekend shifts so i had a sitter which was my parents. I always worked long shifts each day allowing me time in the week to cover school or when she was a baby just jockeying shifts between my parents and I. Church is something I miss. Now my daughter is grown and I'm still working the long hours on the weekend to make sure I have health insurance for her til she turns 26. It's like a never ending cycle.
I hope we get some of that warm weather soon it sounds lovely.0 -
I'm home and I'm happy. My scale at home welcomed me back!!!
4-23 211.8 lbs
5-02 210.2 lbs
I finally dropped below my pre-spring break weight. It's been long overdue.
Thanks for the motivation. Now, to keep it going, I'm headed out to the grocery store to stock up on healthy food for the week.0 -
Great Job!!!! @NewOR2015
Last night was my husband's night off and I woke to a thud and thought he had collapsed. I went running out and he's in the recliner and goes what's wrong I'm like I heard a thud he's like the dog fell out of the chair. Ugh they both will be the death of me.0 -
Very funny @2020pinktogo ! Work has taken over my life since the last week of April and I let the stress take over my diet. Today, once again I am back on track to eat healthy. Grocery shopped on my way in and logged so far today (lunchtime now). There will be no time for exercise until Saturday and then I should have a few less complicated weeks. It was good to take a quick break and catch up on all of your posts. Weight is definitely up, will now be heading in the right direction once again.0

@2020pinktogo LOL
@Living360 Work does have a way of controlling our lives sometimes. Getting back on track is the way to go. I keep slipping off and getting back more times than I care to count.
I'm thinking about finally buying a digital food scale. I have this idea that it is for "extreme dieters". I don't know if a "normal" person like me would get used to using one. Do you all have (and use) one?0 -
I have a digital food scale and I do love it. I bought it on ebay for 10. nothing fancy. but I was shorting myself on a lot and giving myself way too much cheese.
Cheese just never looks like much but adds up to a lot. I even bought one for my daughter and I'm considering getting one for my mom. measuring cups hmmmm lets just say I can pack a cup like no one else. I need the scale I can't fudge that. LOL0 -
It's teacher appreciation week and there are goodies at work every day. I'm not doing well at resisting. It's a shame.0

Struggling a bit here in May. With the warmer weather and change in routines, I need to change up my game plan a bit. What worked well during the winter, is not working for the warmer weather. But, alas, it's a journey. So the important thing is to stay on top of things and make the necessary changes. For this coming week, my goals will be simple:
1. Focus on whole foods and cooking at home
2. Sufficient sleep
3. Time outside (plenty of gardening to do)
4. Complete office tasks
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.0 -
So my daughter was diagnosed with Juvenile diabetes at 22 months old. So every year i rally for the cause. This year my store manager goes Sue Why don't you go to the walks? Now up til 5 years ago I did Now over 20+ years I have met a lot of people and now we all collect money for the cause but we don't go to the walks we meet at a local park and we walk and talk about the year. It started 5 years ago when the first person in our group lost a child another has lost a spouse which was really hard as he was undergoing an experimental procedure but things progressed too fast and he died. So the years when someone has lost someone are very difficult and we focus on that person. The other years we talk about all our kids and what we are going through. Fighting with insurance and Dr's and who we like. So I told my manager this and he was like OH but the walks are fun and I'm like that's nice the disease isn't fun and our walk is for each other. He goes but you could get a free t-shirt. OMG really I just said I would stick with walking with my friends. I just needed to rant thanks everyone.0

I've gone from bad to worse...on my eating choices. I'm not going to get upset. Log it and move on. Tomorrow is another day. Again.
@JMarcella57 I, too, have lawn and gardening work to do again. I hope I actually do it tomorrow. I need the exercise.
@2020pinktogo You are doing your part, and you enjoy your own "support group." So your manager can make suggestions for himself to follow and leave you alone to make your own choices.
Happy Cinco de Mayo. And have a great weekend. Especially, to the mothers out there.0 -
Thanks @NewOR2015
Well my mom is falling apart both of my parents had biopsies yesterday they got the results. Mom is fine dad is not. Well as I write this we just got word the hospital will see my dad next week for a consultation. I think things are worse than they are telling me. As we are going to a cancer hospital. Not to worry I am the driver so I will be going. My parents were going to go visit my sister and I had to call her this morning with a heads up. She called and heard the news as she was talking to my mom. She is devastated one she is so far away and 2 she had to pry it out of my mom. So they are staying home somehow I will make everything work.0 -
@2020pinktogo - ((hugs)) Your group sounds wonderful/helpful/supportive. It's also good that you were able to give your sister the heads up about your parents. Sometimes, I think people feel like they're doing someone a favor by not "worrying" them or that by not talking about something it isn't quite a reality. It's good that your parents have family that cares.0

Modern medicine has come a long way. It could be something that can fixed or controlled with meds. My mom, by coincidence, went to the hospital yesterday. She was diagnosed with pleurodnia (lung pain due to coughing) and mild congestive heart failure. She has already been sent home with meds. She, too, did not want anyone to be called. Her care giver texted me, and I immediately informed all my siblings. Nobody is going to say that I kept something from them.0
-
@NewOR2015 That's how I feel I'm not keeping anyone in the dark well it's my sister's job to inform my brother. I had to beg him to come when my dad had bleeding on the brain and things looked bad. So it's now my sister's job to deal with him. Somehow he doesn't get mad at her.0

4/25: 156 (2 Week's Ago Week’s Weight)
5/9: 159.5 (Current Weight)
6/20: 149 (Goal Weight - 1st day of summer)
(Gained 3.5 lbs over the last 2 weeks. Changed my goal from 143 to 149. Have 10.5 lbs to go to reach my adjusted goal by June 20th.)
Enjoyed working in the back yard with the hubby yesterday. The weather was gorgeous! It was also some good exercise to get the week off to a good start. I have some catching up to do on my goals.

I'm still having my ups and downs. It's my own fault for not following the eating and exercise plan faithfully. Saturday I walked for an hour and a half. Yesterday nothing. Today maybe 30 minutes. I am not being consistent. But I'm not gonna quit!!!!0 -
OMG tonight was my first night training Tim He can't count. He's polite he's nice but when it comes to counting change I could just cry. I said to him Ok you are going to hate me lets practice making change and how we give it to a customer. Because lets see balling it up made me cringe and when he was kind of tossing it into their hands oh that was killing me. I think my boss is trying to kill me.0
-
You have such an amusing job. There's always something interesting going on. Lucky you.0

My boss is counting down to retirement and I'm counting down til I can make a move when my daughter is no longer covered by our insurance. OMG give me strength0
-
-
Well @NewOR2015 I hope your quote is true cause I am going to need all the strength I can get. I told my boss about Tim and she said like what and I gave her all my examples of him counting money and how he did. She decided she isn't going to go any further with his training. As she had an ace in the hole then I crushed her ace in the hole. At first she was excited as she dislikes the person who gave their 2 week notice and then I said your ace in the whole is going to take her position and she was like OH CRAP!! She goes what are we going to do honestly I have no clue. I would have given tim another week to see how he panned out but she didn't want to waste the training so be it. But I'm also very soft and work with people til I want to pull out all my hair. LOL
today I got subway It was like a consolation prize for having to be the one to tell my boss the bad news. i should have saved it for tomorrow as I will be short on time and will need a quick meal. Oh well we shall see what tomorrow brings. Have a great night everyone!!0 -
Dad's apt went well. He will have another surgery to make sure they got everything and then it's all a lot of follow up. the news came out better than expected so we are very happy.0

Glad to hear that your dad's news was better than expected. That's wonderful.
The office on the other hand... keep us posted!0 -
It's always nice to get news that is better than expected. Let's keep it up.0

I'm in Brownsville again with my mom. Yes, she has been sick lately, but that is no excuse for not taking the dogs out!!!! I might have to take one of the two dogs home with me because she is not doing them or herself any good. And I am going to tell her if things don't look better when I return in two more weeks, then I will take the other dog as well!
Thanks for letting me vent!0 -

Hope it works out. It's difficult when we have to parent the parents. Hopefully, she'll be feeling better soon too.0
