I had to qualify today. Shot a 91%… It was cold and you needed a truck with 4 wheel drive to get to the range today. We have been getting lots of rain, under a flash flood warning. One of my fellow deputies got his vehicle stuck stuck. Good thing we could pull him out.
Shelley0 -
Paula ???
Nice shooting there, Shelley. And, nice rescue of fellow deputies.

This won't affect my foot at all.and maybe I can get family to do it with me? Nah, I'm dreaming. They like to watch me exercise, not do it!0

They might join you! My anniversary is July 15th. The fish is a bit spendy. But I am hoping she lives a really long time. I consider my clown fish babies still. They are about 4, I have had them 3 years of that time. They can live longer than cats. So they are worth the cost to me.
Kathy Happy Mother's Day back to you.I went out with my daughter and her family last night. It was also my DH birthday. Lots of fun.
Happy Mother's day to all my friends.
Done! Workout complete. Muahaha
Shelley0 -
Walked w/DH this morning for 5.06 miles in 92 mins (8.15 total miles for 17,470 steps) then hit the gym w/DDD and SIL for a 35 min workout then got on the bike for 12.75 miles in 45 mins and an episode of Covert Affairs then had a great Mother's Day w/my family!! Tomorrow's weigh in isn't going to be pretty, but I had a blast!
Happy Mother's Day to everyone!!

Paula ??? Chris
Good job shooting, Shelley, I tried pistols once :noway: at least laying on my belly with a rifle I can hit a target. :ohwell:
Nice walk, Kathy, good friends you have indeed!
Runner - Pretty lupines. It amazes me the beauty nature creates.
Clara, So nice to see you!
MIL will have an extended Mom's Day, which is to say DH must stay away with his contagious cold, so we will celebrate later. Spent today at urgent care - he has pneumonia. But mostly it seems he is scared. He almost never gets sick and this bad of something is new and scary.
Life keeps hitting us with stuff like this. It amazes me that we are so blessed despite all that's gone wrong. Sick - but not deadly. Broken house - but fixable. Hard work - but good job. Difficult... but we have love and a job and a home and a family and nobody dying.
Paula0 -
Paula how is the house/garage coming along? And I have shot my pistol while laying prone. We love to change it up.
Chris I made it through mother's day, but today I went over board. Fell right into the calories.

I too am fighting Moms Day calories. Two darling boys (named Benjamin and Jerry) bought a dozen flavors of Ben 'n Jerry's (including 2 non-dairy for me) ice cream for a Work social for moms potential moms and guys. It was lovely. Now I have craves. Deciding if it was worth it. Maybe.
Am doing the workout. One set yesterday. Two today.

Yesterday had a session with trainer. Lower body workout, abs and some cardio. It was the hardest so far, but we're hanging in!0
-
Paula I am so sorry! Two mortgages is awful.
We had ice-cream and cake. And still have lots.
Kathy I am so in awe of you. You keep hanging in there. This will be great for you.
Shelley0 -
Paula...sorry about the two level house. Glad you have a place to stay. Good job on the workout. Love your "sussed"!!
Kathy good job with your trainer.
I did excellent yesterday...137.8 this morning but had two servings of dark cherries and pecans this evening. Fingers crossed for tomorrow morning!
Walked w/DH and Bean this morning for 4.06 miles in 81 mins (6.09 total miles for 13,296 steps) then got on the recumbent for 12.75 miles in 45 mins and an episode of Covert Affairs then I went to 1st grade to help out. A good day!

Did not eat any of the left over sugar cones at work today. (Looked for Oreo's but they were all gone. Thank you heaven and earth!)
One set of Sofa Abs - done.
Kathy, Onederland around the corner!
Shelley - Guns and guns!
Chris - Hello from the other thread!
Paula0 -
Paula - good job on the sugar cones...thank goodness the Oreo's went missing!!! Nice job on the workout.
Gym reset for Friday. DDD not feeling well. Caught some kiddie cootie.
Walked w/DH and Bean this morning for 4.15 miles in 93 mins (6.56 total miles for 14,324 steps) then got on the recumbent for 12.0 miles in 45 mins and some dumb sitcom then went to 1st grade. It was a fun day.
Chris0 -
Oreos, really, I have not had those in forever. So glad they were all gone. Today was a better day for you.
Oh no Chris! So sorry about DDD. Hope she feels better soon.
I scored 6 tickets for a 2 hour train ride. BN invited first responders and their family to ride on their train as a thank you for all we do. There was a low response, so I was able to get enough tickets for my daughter's family also. The ride is on June 9th. Her birthday!
Shelley0 -
Ben (he of last week's Ben & Jerry fete) has organized the weekly work walk and today he dragged us off to lap the cemetery. It was so nice and helped clear my head and relax. Such an easy way to relieve stress.
Paula0 -
Great score, Shelley! Just and FYI here...I have never been on a train. Rode BART once. Got very BART sick!!
Paula, we lived across the street from an open grave yard. There were no walls or fences around it. I could see it from the top bunk out my bedroom window. There were many rules...you could not step on any part of the grave or you'd go straight to hell...or the underground occupant would visit you in the middle of the night. You could not pick the flowers (weeds, but we didn't know the difference) or take anything from the graveyard back across the street to the house...they would come for it...bwahahah! A very CREEPY place to a little kid, but we couldn't stay away! Glad you are lapping it in bright sunlight!!
Chris0 -
Walked w/DH and Bean this morning for 4.10 miles in 92 mins (6.15 total miles for 13,438 steps) then got on the recumbent for 12.00 miles in 45 mins and an episode of Lucifer then went to 1st grade. I am totally wiped this evening.
Hope everyone has a grand Friday.
Chris0 -
Doing my sofa abs! Boy am I good at this challenge! Meybee cuz it's so much like the zero thousand burpees club!
Paula0 -
Paula I so agree with Chris. Best to circle it in daylight. I must admit to having spent time reading headstones. I love the old ones.
Very creepy indeed Chris. What great memories though. What is BART? I have been on trains in Germany. We would ride from our town to other cities. Get off and spend the afternoon exploring. Then ride the train back home. Today I had my 6 month class to keep my EMR certification. Then walked the boys. It was a great day. Oh also went and told my grandchildren about the train ride. They are so excited!
Shelley0 -
Jordan found me a Yellow Belly Regal Angel Fish!
Now to arrange a shipping date. I am so excited. Must get a quarantine tank ready.
Shelley0 -
Bay Area Rapid Transit. I can't tell you the difference between that and a train. The one I was on had curved windows all the way up to the middle of the ceiling. Everything flying by and all around just messed with my brain. I had to close my eyes on the trip there and the trip home.
We are going to DDD's presentation tomorrow. Her college is up this incredible winding road. I'm driving which makes it easier on me. I will still be on peppermint the entire way up and back.
Weighed in at 137.4 (my scale) this morning, so I'm happy.
This is my Rest Day...tomorrow will most likely be a RD, too!!

Chris, There is a trick to driving curves in the mountains. Slow down on the straight-of-ways before you get into the curve. Then accelerate slightly going out of the curve. When you get it right, it counteracts the centrifugal force of the curve.
Shelley, BART is like the EL train in Chicago. A small train that runs on an electric rail. Don't want to touch that third rail :noway: unless you want your hair permanently curled. Not good!
BART runs underwater - under the San Francisco Bay - about 5-10 miles? Unfortunately, there are walls, so it just feels like a tunnel and you can't see the fish.
Congratulation on the new Regal. Speaking of royalty, is King Tut okay I hope?

Went to a free Pilates demo class yesterday. Thought my abs would be sore today but it's my legs!0

Hi everyone, I've been a bit out of pocket. I ran a Half Marathon on Mother's Day, my first. Maybe I posted that here....? I slept since then. ;-P I train at sea level and didn't realize there was hills and elevation out East. I did okay though, 2:26, it's not great, but better then I thought I would do ;-P I didn't get injured, that was the part that worried me.
I almost moved to San Fran a couple of years ago and I remember studying up on BART. I'm not a city girl though, I'm such a complete bumpkin. I was in Portland today and the city was really hopping. And great food everywhere! Oh' my, I would have a tough time living near those food carts for real. And hand made Bagels?! I've never had one but they really looked amazing. When I was in the desert of Eastern Oregon for my race - they have fast food out there, and it is instantly addictive. There just really isn't much of that at all where I live currently and what little there is - inedible.
I kinda just tried to get caught up this week so feel like I didn't do anything at all, but tomorrow am going out for a slow relaxing trail run and coffee then sketch out my training for the week and get recommited. I try to do 2 tough weeks followed by 1 slower maintenance week right now, so it's time to start back to work. Just wanted to say hello!!
Any big events coming up for anyone? Any runs? How is the weather?0 -
Our DDD presented her dissertation at her college yesterday to a room full of K-12 administrators. We went and her presentation was terrific. It was funny because I knew exactly what she was going to say as I was her proof-reader through her entire project. Then they served a great lunch and I ate it all!! I did get 20,464 steps done yesterday, though. DH and I did walk before we left for her presentation.
We walked this morning for 5.15 miles in 101 mins (6.85 total miles for 14,840 steps) then I got on the recumbent for 12.75 miles in 45 mins and an episode of Grimm then worked out to a 55 min strength/weights Cathe DVD. Then I took a nap!! It's been a great Sunday!
Hope everyone is doing well.

Will post on new week...0

runner Paula love that shiny skirt you are wearing. Very sheik.
Congratulations on the run. Hills really are a bit harder, a lot harder.
Bart, now I get it. This ride should be loads different. We should see tons of antelope. Since there are more here than in Africa even.
