PMS/Estrogen Overload

Every month I tend to "start over " because those 5 days out the month I crave the most high carb processed food in sight. It's beyond carb cycling. I ate a whole cake by myself in 5 days. It's BAD. Any sweet alternatives that won't kick me out of ketosis ? My weakness is sugar during that time ... Thanks in advance !

Have you tried Quest bars? I have a love/hate relationship with them, but they got me through TOM without an issue.

I buy the sugar free chocolates from Russell Stover or good dark chocolate. Quest bars are dangerous for me to, the trigger major cravings. Do you drink diet pop at all? Diet cream soda has gotten me through many sweet craving days.

I like adding just a few drops of sweet leaf to LaCroix sodas...it helps with no dyes, sweeteners (other than what I barely add), and no additives. I will make fat bombs during that time, but I find that the best thing that manages my sweet tooth during PMS is to not limit fat and sodium - have a bacon sandwich with bacon bread, topped with bacon, and a side of bacon.

I've come to realize that sometimes our body just wants a feel good thing - which fat and salt are a substitute comfort food... Or I'll make some strawberry cheesecake fat bombs, etc. Anything to keep from faceplanting into a carton of ice cream, pan of brownies, or a cake, just like you! (hugs), @Blu3Hea7en ...

P.S. The only Quest bar I've been able to tolerate so far have only stevia in them - no sucralose or anything else.. Those gave me migraines and hellastrong cravings.

Diet Dr. Pepper kills a sweet tooth... but can also trigger cravings. I'm finding that I just struggle with artificial sweeteners I think.

I second decadent food. My ultimate comfort food on a stressful day lately has been cauliflower mac n cheese.

@Panda_Poptarts - My biggest issue with DDP, aside from it being so sweet I have to cut it by half with water, is that it has artificial colors in it - and they trigger migraines for me! I hate it, because I could drink the leaded stuff with no issues! Sad sad day...

A square of Lindt 90% dark chocolate gets me through most any craving. Especially if I top it with a little cashew, peanut, or almond butter.

Black bean brownies? I have no idea if they'd kick you out of ketosis but I love em when the hormones are singing. Fat bombs?

I start going for the magnesium supplement at that point. If I get going with it soon enough, I can keep cravings at bay.

I also started taking Zoloft cyclically, due to premenstrual depression, which helps, too, since my sweet tooth in that case is tied to the depression.

^^ Thanks ladies! I found so many good ideas in your responses. Thanks OP! wonderful thread.

When I need sweet, I go for 85-90% Lindt chocolate.

When I was still using hwc, I loved:
3-4 TBS hwc whipped with blender
    1/2 TSP vanilla extract
1/4 cup nuts if your choice
1-2 squares lindt chocolate chipped or shredded.

Not low cal but pretty low carb.
