Paleo almost 4 months. Just started tracking macros. I work in the arctic cirlce oil fields, so food can be an issuse but I just choose best choice available. Hardest part for me was first 2 weeks, on just tryning to figure it all out. Plus we are surround by fresh doughnuts, cakes, pies at work. Plus ice cream machines on every Hall way. I had a had sugar addiction. Now it all comes second nature to me, less though into my food and more thought into creative workouts.
Not a gym rat so wife and I do kettlebells, battleropes, steal mace, and just got a set of rings. Want to have functional fitness body.
I am very excited about my new life and where it's going!

WOW! Awesome thread with amazing stories. These are great for me today. Thanks all.
I switched to keto after putting off carb cutting for a long long time. Two years ago ago I discovered that I was prediabetic, partially brought on by steroids and partially from too much sugar (soda and candies) I was about 175lbs at 5'8". I knew I needed to eat less and "cut back" on sweets so I tried it. Multiple times. I would last a few days but was hungrier and ate. I ended up gaining about 15lbs over the next year while I tried to cut calories with insulin resistance. LOL a bad fit!
Last May I finally committed to LCHF. I cut out pop and candies cold, then slowly reduced my carbs to keto levels by June. My BG was much lower almost immeditely. Yeah! I also noticed a jump in my memory and cognitive functions about one month into the diet. That was a bit disturbing sice I did not realize how bad I was, but I am glad for the improvement.
My appetite and carb cravings dropped a lot too, so I was able to lose about 40lbs within 4 or 5 months to get to 150lbs. I wouldn't mind losing a few more but my appetite came back so my weight loss stopped as I ate more. I'm going with it for now. I am a medium size 8 or 10 and I can wear the clothes I wore when I was 20 years younger. I like that!
The first picture is me at about 190lbs when I was just starting LCHF. The scarf and loose flowing tops did not hide the fat as well as I had hoped it did! The second is almost 4 months later at about 155lbs.
I have mostly been maintaining 150lbs for half a year. I dip down into the 140's and right now I am bounced up to around 155lbs. It seem to be pretty steady, although I am discovering that 2500kcals per day is a bit much for me - 2000kcal seems better and steadier for weight.
My only problem now is that my fasting BG is not low anymore unless I am well fasted for over 12 twelve hours. That could be due to my 25000kcal diet and slight weight gain too. Regardless, my BG is not as pretty as it used to be and is often in the prediabetic range again when I eat, even if it is just fat bombs. No idea why but I am sticking with LCHF since I can imagine how much worse it would be on a moderate carb diet!
Overall, I really really like LCHF. This is my WoE for the forseeable future.12 -

I'm on day 3 & this is SO inspiring for me! I'd lost 55 lbs the "hard" way back in 2011, but it all came back with a vengeance after gallbladder & reduction surgery.
I was 270 in 2010, got down to 215, & went back up to 275. *sigh* I'm 268 as of this morning, so here's hoping! (I don't know how much of it was water weight, as I typically drink 8-10 cups of water daily, with no sodas since March).
