Keto Sweet Spot

There's lots of talk around here about what "fat adaptation" is or isn't or may be, so I'm just going to call this my Keto Sweet Spot.

I've been well under 50 g carbs for just over 5 months, under 20 g most days, with fabulous weight loss success. However, I've been battling the worst Keto breath ever this entire time, fortunately most days I work from my home office, so only my husband had to suffer with me. I'm about to start a new job in an office and was seriously considering upping my carbs to deal with this situation. But, low and behold, I've been Keto-breath free for two weeks now; it looks like my body has finally figured out how to produce the right level of ketones and/or properly dispose of the excess via alternative methods... just in time!

Other magical stuff has happened lately too. My remaining carb cravings have completely dissipated, my hunger levels have plummeted to a new low, my emotional bond with food seems to have been completely severed and... I'm finally off my last 10 units of insulin. It's been 4 days now since I've had any diabetes meds and my fasting and post meal blood glucose levels have been at an all time low!

I have a lot more weight to lose (down about 70 lbs so far), so I expect to go through many more cycles of change. But the recent changes have been quite momentous for me in the most positive way.

This is the first time in my life that I've been able to maintain a specific woe so consistently for this long with no major derailment. I feel really good about being able to eat this way for the rest of my life.

So when did you hit your Keto sweet spot and how did it feel?

Congratulations @PaleoInScotland! I'm really happy you've found your sweet spot.

Even after 200 days, I am still working to find mine. I didn't have any metabolic problems, so I can't really attest to any of those changes but I'm happy with the progress I've made. Sure, there's been some rough days but I know that if I keep at it, it will get better.

But I will say that whoever said you need carbs to exercise is wrong (at least for me) because my fitness levels are the best they have ever been in my life - and no need to use carbs for energy.
