BO Stank

Normally my Dove 48 hour deodorant is enough for the day...not since keto. I cannot manage this stench for the life of me. Please tell me I'm not going to smell like an armpit for the rest of my life...Nobody wants to be fat, sweaty and smelly. It's not cute.

    Fun keto fact!

I can tell my period is coming within 48 hours by the smell of my armpits. Haha!

It isn't actually Keto... your 'scent' changes at ovulation too. Hormonal thang... lol. Actually attracts males (sounds weird, I know).

Definitely... and I agree... but it's new / worse since keto :)

I have actually become less smelly. I even stopped using store bought deodorant and only use one from Primal Life Organics made only from coconut oil, aluminum free sodium bicarbonate and beeswax.

I'm another who became less smelly. I had thought that was normal. LOL

Could it be due to higher protein levels? I know excess protein can also cause BO and bad breath in some.

I have been on this WOE full time since Oct 2014. Today I got up late and read some news and medical research and restocked some supplements. Wife and daughter went to work together in the afternoon and called me because they forgot a CD they wanted prints made off of at Wallgreens. The daughter did not start until 5 PM and wanted me to drive in the CD (25 minutes).

I had not taken a bath since last night and was in what I wear around the house and for past 24 hours deodorant free. Jerked on a V neck undershirt that I wore yesterday and the same shirt too. While it has been cool today I did go for my walk, purchased new batteries for the golf cart that we use around the place more as an ATV and restocked my nuts at Krogers and filled the car with gas while there and still do not have BO like in the past. Oh yes had my eggs, sausage and two 180 calorie cups of coffee at McDonald. :) I use 9 creams per Senior size (small) coffee.

Now last summer I was still having BO after working out all day even with deodorant. It was so bad for years that the BO could almost make even me pass out. Tussy was the only brand that worked for me.

Why has my BO issue improved I do not know. I do not eat refined processed foods, sugar or any form of grains. Perhaps there was a detox for a period of time. I have been in ketosis mostly since Nov 2014.

If anyone finds info on this subject please share.

Hi Gale, I don;t have any medical info, I eat pretty clean, I never use, or need deodorant unless I'm eating too much red meat - which I don't manage very well.

I just came back form teaching for 3 days in the tropics, where I sweated like all get out, but no nasty smell. Yeahh

It's not as bad anymore! Thank goodness! I couldn't even leave the house some hot days because I just couldn't win that battle.

My BO is horrible as well. By mid day I'm ready to strip my bra and shirt bc I can't stand to smell myself. Its ridiculous!

The smell of my sweat does not change but my breath sure does. My sweat has always had a sort of stale dish cloth smell regardless of how clean/dirty I eat.

I'm glad it's not just me!!! My normal Sure deo hasn't worked for the past month. My 20 yr old daughter has ALWAYS had BO and sweating problems, and she just made me buy some Degree Active..the strong one that releases when you sweat. Day 2 today...and IT IS WORKING!! :) Without regard to diet or health, some people just sweat and stink more than others...why would this WOE and it's effects be any different, I assume? I am SO THANKFUL that the smell went away for some of you...my breath and armpits make feel VERY unsexy for my hubby at times...no matter how much I brush, floss, rinse or scrub in shower...the slight linger of my love of LCHF lingers...sigh.

I personally won't use store bought deodorant, because aluminum. So I guess I'm just going to smell like French onion soup mix for awhile. And my mouth tastes like metal. That'S been dipped in cat spray. This is my third day BTW, but not my first go around....but back then I was using store bought products so I was a bit shocked by my pits this time...thank you for the reminder lol

Omg yes!! I'm currently showering twice a day and reapplying deoderent and body spray several times a day and I'm still pretty sure I stink. I'm paranoid that when I pick up my daughter from school the other parents that talk to me are going to think I don't bathe or something...

Some say our largest detox organ is our skin. It seems clean eating for the past 20 months finally took away a lot of my BO. The liver, kidneys, lungs and skin keep us detoxed I guess with clean eating at the right level to maintain a normal body weight. I could use some tropics time. :)

I've been keto 2 and a half years. I still have random days where I can smell that strong smell, only a couple of hours after a shower, and I haven't even been sweating. It's definitely a "since I've been keto" thing, never in my life had I smelled like that before, even when I was 30kg heavier.
