Hi everyone,
I've been a member of MFP for quite some time now. i come and go using the app and logging food stuff. i've had type 2 diabetes for almost 3 years now. I'm just starting to accept my diagnosis. I believe I've been in denial for most of the past 3 years. I really could use some support from people who are going through the same things I am. I am an emotional eater and at times feel like I have an addiction to sweets and carbs.
I saw my doctor this morning all my labs are down a little from 3 months ago but I still have some work to do. I want to lose 50 pounds, get my A1c and cholesterol down. I'm planning on really buckling down on my eating and adding a little more exercise in my week.
i hope to check in here daily after i log in my food for the day.
Thanks in advance for any help or words of encouragement. i hope to do the same for someone else.
Dee

Hi Dee. Welcome to the group. I'm working on bringing down my numbers as well and this is a great place to track things and get input from a great bunch of folks. Different things work for different people but it helps to bounce ideas off each other. I've pretty much lost the weight after 18 months, 5 of which have been on MFP and now I'm concentrating on getting my BG numbers (and A1c) down as much as I can. So keep your goals in mind and know that every day you work on healthy eating and exercise will help you reach those goals. Good luck.0

Hello Deedee,
I'm a fellow diabetic, I was diagnosed about 12 years ago, I'm taking a fairly hefty dose of metformin . Luckily my readings have been ok lately. However after the initial euphoria of losing some weight I now seem to be in a bit of a rut and I still have a lot of fat to shift. So if you want to add me to your friends list feel free to do so. I live on a small island in he middle of th North Sea , I have been married for a long, long time and have two sons -20 and 16- I teach English at high school and hate all the changes that his government are inflicting on us. I love cooking and baking, read a lot, I swim, listen to music all kinds and I'm an avid collector of cookery books - my typing is awful so watch out for the typos.0 -

I'm looking forward to getting to know you better as well. I appreciate you all responding to me. My goal is to take one day a a time and continue to make my small changes toward the bigger picture. I've made some good progress but I still have some work to do.0
