I work from home most of the time. My kitchen is right there and I cook whatever I want when I want. This week not only am I going out of town but I'll be at a convention where the days will consist of continental pastry breakfasts and boxed lunches with sandwiches and chips. At least it will be a lot of walking.

I must be choosy as I decide how I will eat this week and be willing to take the time to find real food instead of grabbing a dry turkey on rye.

Wish me luck and I'll take any words of wisdom available!

Good luck to you this week! My suggestion would be to pack some safe foods in a cooler or a couple of lunch boxes that you can safely eat before leaving your room! Plus there should be a grocery store close to you where you can stock up on some safe foods and free ice in the hotel. You can take the innards out of the meat and cheese sandwiches at the lunches and eat something you would normally eat lc at a local restaurant. No worries!!! You can do this!!! B)

Oh yes, good luck. I travel a lot for work, perhaps 4-5 days each fortnight- away at conferences, trainings, in hotels, apartments etc.

For me, eating a good healthy high fat protein breakfast helps, making sure I get well enough sleep, so I'm not hormonally vulnerable, eating dinner earlier than normal so I search for good food options before any sense of hunger or cravings kick in - either by myself or with others.

I'm usually on this.. but failed on my last trip, I think because I left home sleep deprived - just makes me a bit more easily enticed by things that would not normally entice me.

I carry - cashews, almonds, sardines, and usually my favourite treats.

And yes, you can do this. For me, Planning is key.

Take along a little lunch cooler as stated earlier and pick up sealed packets of HB eggs, pepperoni or salami, nuts or nut butters, etc. My Walmart here sells a 3 pack of washed prepared raw celery sticks that are great for take along and probably you can also pick up packets of bacon ranch dip or mayo to dip them in. You can always bring a shaker cup and whatever flavour protein powder you like and some cream to mix with it. That's really yummy for breakfast especially poured into your coffee for a 'creamer.'

So only a half day left and I've managed to make it work! Thanks for all the advice. I'm excited that I can "do this anywhere"

I confess I drank way too much diet soda...3 cans a day but otherwise I am pretty pleased!
