Time to start a new weekly thread.
Except for Saturday I had a good week food wise and went walking alot. My weight isn't mirroring that yet, but I need to give it some time.
On a fast day today and to my joy and surprise, my fruit farmer had the first of his lush strawberries. The most delicious strawberries are even better on a fast day
Have a good week!

flumi_f fresh strawberries are so yummy. They just have that fresh sweet taste. The other thing I love are cherries. I am sure this is because my mum used to crave these when she was expecting me ( or maybe that is just an excuse).
Hope you all have great week to look forward to. Fast day tomorrow so need to be focused but it is working so that is great.

I've got my FD planned for today and Friday. Nothing much going on. Just anxiously waiting for school to end!! I used to dread it because of all the time I had to fill with keeping kids busy (you get tired of hearing "I'm bored"), but I drive them around so much, I'm looking forward to a break from all the rushing around!! Have a great week!0

Good for you Flossy!
I'm so enjoying the overlap of the asparagus and the strawberry season. Two things I only buy from my two local farmers. Theirs are the best and always fresh from that day. The two or three overlapping weeks are heavenly and very healthy.
Have also been walking almost daily for an hour or more. The orchids in a nearby birchforest are in bloom. Thus I've been taking a regular peek to see which flowers are at their peak. Here just one of the 6 types of orchids growing in a very special place.
Stitches are coming out tomorrow and I hope to continue my walking and go for my first ride this weekend. Just need to find someone, to carry the saddle for me The horse is a docile one, so no problems there and I will wear my ab-wrap for extra support.
Food wise I've been pretty good and my next fast will be on Thursday.1 -
Nice pics, Flumi! Perhaps photography is an option if you choose to quit your day job . Glad you are javing a good week. You sounded "low" the last week. Glad things are on a positive trend!!1

I don't know why I haven't thought of this before.... But if I offer the son a 'gross for me' lunch for him to eat, it makes fast day a breeze!! Pilsbury wiener wraps it is!!
Enjoyed some fresh strawberries this morning too Flumi - they're beauties in your photo! I ate a ton of fresh fruit salad while pregnant with my daughter Juliemoo, and she to this day loves all fruit so maybe there is something to that! I ate meat with my son....but never a wiener wrap so not sure why he likes those things!
I've also tried a protein powder for fast day today, sample size! It was Vanilla flavor, 130 cals, and I mixed it with almond milk 37 cals to total 167 cals and it's very filling!!! Coleslaw salad with peanut sauce dressing for dinner!! Cheers!1 -
First Fast Day of the week out of the way yesterday with courgette spaghetti. Really quite nice and not many calories so a bonus which meant I could have a treat of skinny popcorn Have a great day and enjoy.
flumi_f loving the pictures and the photography idea is a great on especially as you have some great wild plants to photograph.0 -
Had a very successful fast yesterday!! I made turkey sloppy joes for my family and I had sloppy buffalo kidney beans with a salad. Most people think if you are vegan and just eating plants and carbs, you are hungry all the time. I've actually found the opposite to be true! Mama, I've considered using some of my vegan protein powder as a smoothie to replace my FD dinner, but I find by dinner time I need something with some "oomph" in my stomach! However, it's getting hot here (106 today ), so a cold smoothie might be ok.
On another note, I recently decided to try meditation. I'm finding my ability to deal with my aging parents (with some new and worrisome medical issues) are really testing all of my Buddhist learning. Meditation has been one thing I've been afraid to try. I'm not sure why, but it's definitely a fear. However, in light of my moms health taking a turn for the worse, I decided I needed more of an anchor, something to ground me. Because let me tell you, some days it feels like a tornado is running through my head and I just spin through my day. So for the past 4 days, I've been able to sit for 15 minutes and I'm really enjoying it. I feel more like I'm floating through the day, which is a great feeling. Like I've got Rainex on me and water just drips off!! I realize it's early days, but it is motivating me to continue. I'm not ready to shave my head and don a saffron robe, but some Tibetan bowls might not be out of the question. Have a great day, guys!!0 -
I totally Overindulged tonight! Oh well, my choice.... I always think of the week and not just the day which really helps. I'm not even going to try to figure out why I kept at it... Needed a big sugar fix!
Sorry about your mom Flossy, thinking of you0 -
flossy meditation is so good. It is a great way to clear the mind and just focus on nothing except your breathing. It has also been shown to be a great reliever so sounds like will be ideal in your current situation.
mama some days you just have to do it and as you say no reason and don't even need what it is you are eating.0 -
Thanks, Mama. I know we are both having struggles with aging parents! Keep up your sense of humor. I'm relying heavily on it, even if it gets a little dark sometimes (my husband has a wicked sense of humor).
Julie, thank you for your encouragement. I think I may be hooked. I'm not doing much...10-15 minutes at this point. But so far, I'm finding my day runs a little smoother!! I'll keep you guys posted. Best wishes!!0 -
Second Fast day of the week yesterday which went reasonably well. Off out for a meal tonight with the son and hubby tonight so will need to be careful with what I choose if I want to have a glass of wine.
Have had a date for my knee operation in August so need to keep focused for that which with the current weight loss will aid my recovery.
Hope you all have a good weekend.0 -
It is Friday and I am just getting my first fast of the week in. Oops. But, I have been pretty good the rest of the week. So, I might not lose too much this week, but I won't gain. You all seem to be having pretty good weeks. Keep those chins up and carry on!0

Hey Flossy - a bit of you time with meditation is surely a great idea! And keep up the dancing. That will also help you stay positive!
Had a good week with lots of walks. My first fast was good, my second was high but still a low day. Stitches are out and my vacation has been confirmed, so I shall keep walking in preparation for the hikes until I can run again.
A question for you peops - anybody ever tried Kangoo Jump workouts? They have a new running group in a city nearby. They run with the Kangoo Jump shoes on Thursdays. As soon as my scar allows me, I'm gonna try that out. Sounds like fun and an awesomely efficient workout.0 -
Flumi, dancing has never been as important to me as it is now!!! I am clinging to it like a life boat just because it gives me a vacation from my head. Oh and it's a killer workout.
I had an unexpected fast day Thursday rather than Friday. Long story short, I had to go to an all day doctor appt with my mom and eating was not an option until dinner. Mostly nerves and timing. At any rate, I was going to try for my official fast yesterday, but after dance, I couldn't take it and went to Taco Bell (they've done a great job of making available vegan options...LOVE THEM). I weighed myself before dance and could NOT believe my eyes...below 140. I had to take a picture just I case. It was most unexpected. When I'm really following the 5:2, I seem to lose the most around my TOM. I know our metabolism increases a bit during that time, so I'm not sure if that's it, but I'll take it.
Oh Flumi, I've not heard of that workout. It isn't the shoes that look like half stilts, half blades where they are kind of bouncy? If so, those look fun. Goofy, but fun!0 -
Yup, those are the ones. This group goes running outside with them, but I've also seen aerobic classes using them. I really think, it would be fun. But then I'm always game for something new and a little crazy
Hey congrats on reaching 13x!! That's a huge accomplishment! And yes, I also lose more shortly before TOM than after. I have one or two weeks where I can lose well and then 2 weeks, where the weight won't budge (always assuming, I'm not eating over my cals and sticking to my fasts).
Took out my poles today and went nordic walking for about 90min instead of 'just' walking. Just so much more efficient than walking as the poles work your back and arms and my ab sutures didn't mind. Also had a nice horse back ride in the morning. A friend saddled for me, because those western saddles are just so darn heavy. And a short bike ride to my farmers for asparagus and strawberries. Biking uphill strained me more than the walking, so I'll wait with that another few days. But all in all recovery is going well Shall be up and running in a couple of weeks.
