Net carbs

I need some help getting to know about net carbs.
I've been on USDA and edited some of my foods to the usda figures mainly because the UK are often quite different with the products I'm buying anyway.
So what I want to know is if a 100g avocado has 8.53g carbs, 6.7g fibre and 0.66g sugar (data from Issa) what is the net carb and more importantly what that does that mean and what does it to your carb allowance. Basically I'm wondering if I can eat more than I actually am doing.

It's not so simple, alas.
You can start by reading the LCD Launchpad entries on that very topic.
In practice, it seems to vary by individual and by type and source of fiber.
(Think fiber extracted from pompom chips v. straight psyllium husks v. flaked coconut shells....jk)
If you check your blood glucose, you could self-experiment and see if it makes any difference.

Ok great thanks I'll check it out, basically I'm still hungry alot and wondered if it was because my net carbs once fiber is deducted comes up quite small. Most of my food today is meat and veg I would say there isn't much sugar alcohols in it either and just wondered if getting more veg in would help0

If you're hungry, I would look at your fat and protein rather than trying to fit a few extra fiber carbs in. The fat will be the most satisfying for hunger control. Protein too.
Are you starting your day off with a good amount of quality fat? No vegetable oils or margarine, actual real food fats?3 -
I can't eat breakfast that's probably my trouble, I do night shifts so the first thing I do when I get home is go to bed. At midday I'll sometimes have fried egg and mushrooms or just mushrooms always fried in butter, or Tiana coconut oil my body is weird if I don't eat all day I'm ok but if I do eat something I feel hungry from then on. I know a lot of people rave about the coffee and coconut oil so I did try it with the grass fed butter the other day but I didn't really take to it so that's out the window too.
This is all new so maybe my body needs some more time to adapt and I'm just being impatient.
I'm not going to worry about net carbs anymore too much beadwork and could easily go over by Mus calculations.0 -
If the thought is to add more lower-carb vegetables, it's hard to find a downside, unless you overdo the amount or your body's just not fiber-friendly.0
