I’m giving this some serious thought. The concept makes sense to me, but for me personally with still at least 90lbs to go…. that would mean that I should be eating 2100 calories everyday. I just can’t even imagine that would work!

So I’m looking for people who have done TDEE/-% and lost a Big amount with it. Make me a Believer People!!

Having more weight to lose is probably the BEST time to start TDEE -20%. I wouldn't say I have lost a ton of weight byt 31lbs isn't exactly 'fad diet' territory either. I am 5'6" 194lbs, I work out 3x/week and eat 1800 calories/day. I'm consistently losing.

And i'm assuming that 1800 is your tdee-20%? Did you have to do a metabolic reset or anything? I'm so worried about gaining back what I've already lost! :embarassed:

I started at TDEE -20% straight out of the gate, so considering I was WAAAY overeating, I didn't need a metabolic reset. My body was definitely not wondering whether or not it would see food in the future :p I would be nervous about gaining back some weight also, but in the long run you will be able to eat more and lose meaning you can actually stick with it right? How many calories are you eating now?

and that's 500 calories off my TDEE (which is about -20%), which is confirmed by my FitBit as 2200-2300.

I’m eating anywhere between 1400-1750ish. Naughty days closer to 1900.

According to calculators… BMR is 1910, TDEE is around 2700ish.

I’ve been eating my 1400-1700 for the last month solid. Before that I was more hit and miss, probably eating more like 1700-2000+ occasionally. (Not losing)

I’m trying to decide if I would really need a full reset or not? Thats the part that scares me the most! LOL

If it were me, I'd probably see how I did on a steady 1850. Did you use your bf% to calculate your BMR? I checked mine on the standard bmr calculator and it was coming up around 1800 but when I checked it taking into account my bf% it was in the 1500 range. My Fitbit data also supports this. If I had to take a haphazard guess I'd say you could easily go up to 1800 and still lose, I would TRY that and then decide if you need a reset. I would give it at least 3 weeks before deciding on a reset.

I lost total of 90 lb and the last 40 were lost after recalculating my calorie intake based on TDEE percentage. And the best thing about the 90 lb weight loss is I am maintaining them without much of the effort. I love my diet. I love my exercise and the rest just works.

    Give it a shot!!!

Over 70 pounds down and I've never eaten less than 1900 cals. I actually bumped mine up recently to TDEE-15% because I'm pretty active. It works!
