I need some advice, or a good shaking

I go to a diabetes support group once a month here in Ottawa. Most of the people are great, we share our victories, things that we're having difficulty with. We usually learn new ways to deal with our ups and downs from each other as well as from the nurse who leads our group.
I say MOST of the people, because there is one woman who annoys the hell out of me. When it's her turn to share she usually draws out what she has to share into a 30 minute monologue. No one can get a word in edge wise. If you try to offer some advice, or comment, it leads to another ten minute monologue.
Some meetings, only one or two of us are able to say anything because it's all about her for so long. The nurse tries her best to steer the conversation to others, but she always has to add her advise or her version of what the other person is dealing with.
I like going to the meetings, I find them helpful and insightful for the most part.
How would you deal with this type of situation?

What about a timer or "talking stick" ? I've been to meetings where everyone has a 2 minute limit ( or whatever is deemed appropriate) and the leader moves them on at that point. If the rule is the same for all it should not single her out to make her feel badly.4

The last meeting went better. Everyone got a chance to talk, give advice to those who needed it, or asked for it. I think it was a concerted effort to keep her to the end. Some days the group is small, but other times we have over 15 people. So, we did discuss how to go forward by perhaps limiting the numbers. Perhaps that would resolve this issue completely.1
