Relief from chronic pain?!!

I have had chronic pain issues my entire adult life... costochondritis, PCOS related cysts, severe hayfever, food allergies causing bloating and stomach pain, plantar fasciitis, SI joint inflammation, lower back & hip pain, tendonitis and carpel tunnel syndrome in my arms and wrists, neck and shoulder pain... I hope I'm not jinxing myself, but for the first time in YEARS I was able to work in my kitchen for over an hour yesterday and had NO pain. Normally after just a few minutes my lower back muscles start seizing up and I start having painful muscle spasms... I'm on day 13 of eating a LCHF diet (Protein Power) and I don't think it's a coincidence.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of relief so quickly?!!

YES!! Carbs and sugars are both known to aggravate and contribute to any ongoing inflammation (pain) issues currently going on in the body so when you follow LCHF where both carbs and sugars are limited, generally speaking, the inflammation you are experiencing your body and also level of pain, likewise goes down. About 5-6 weeks into the start of switching over to this way of eating (WOE) I noticed a huge difference so much so that I brought it up and asked my Doctor who told me what I shared with you above. Before I started LCHF, the pain I was experiencing from CTS averaged about a 7-8 every day. Now, however, is tends to be anywhere in the range of 0.5-2 on a daily basis. That's a HUGE difference to me and is yet another reason why I'm so glad I found LCHF and why I love it so darned much!! lol5

I've heard lots about that too. I have chronic knee pain from injuries when I was a kid and it has eased some. I am driving about two hours in the morning and that will be a big test...normally driving more than an hour and I'm hurting badly. I will be interested to see how I feel after this drive. I'm almost at 60 days - I started April 18th.3

Yeah, I too had lots of knee pain mostly from my weight and that's all but disappeared too though I do still get occasional twinges now and then...till MUCH more livable with my ketogenic lifestyle now!1

Yes, the swelling in my legs went down and my allergies went away in the first two weeks.1

Yep, dx'ed Fibromyalgia here and arthritis in previously injured joints. 6 years ago couldn't walk more than two flat blocks (after years of teaching fitness classes and working as a physio rehab specialist for a living). Now I can work fulltime at a job where I walk 12000 steps in an 8 hr shift, and take care of elderly parents (3), and help run a business, volunteer with the RCMP, and another volunteer organization, and just a generally busy life etc. Haha, no kids though.... lol. I still get 5+ pain once in a while but usually it's because I need my monthly chiropractor tune-up.4

Amazing. I too have fibromyalgia and many other associated issues. I hope it gives me some relief too2

Completed my drive this morning. 2.5 hours and no pain in my knees when I got out of the car!7

@jetsamflotsam 30 days after I cut out sugar and all grains keeping my carbs less than <50 grams daily back in Oct 2014 my pain level dropped from 7-8 levels to 2-3 and still is low today.
Life at 65 is much better than it was at 45 on my old Way Of Eating.
Any way of eating real food that lowers our pain level surely is decreasing our odds of a premature death.
Thanks for the great report.3 -
Hi! The relief I have seen relief from my fibromyalgia pain (was able to stop the Savella after approximately four months of LCHF), and cervical dystonia has been like a miracle for me! I was unable to work (I'm an RN) for ten years because of the pain I endured! I was able to return to working part time last November, after eating this way for seven months. I'm loving working again!! I believe the processed junk I ate created the majority of my pain! It's crazy, but even the carbs from some vegetables can create a pain response! I haven't tested myself with any high carb foods to see how they affect me, because I don't want to chance it!
Good for you! So wonderful to see such positive results, so quickly for you too!!

That's seriously amazing... I'm hoping I'll be able to start walking regularly by the end of the month. I'll have to note how I feel after meals and tweak it if I have pain... That's a really great idea... I have something called Oral Allergy Syndrome, so it's hard for me to tell which foods are causing a reaction, cause it comes and goes with the severity of my hayfever... Good times! LOL1 -

Turning 40 last month and feeling like I'm 65 is why I started this WOE. Last year I went through the entire process of applying for and getting approved for weight loss surgery, did all the classes, did all the blood work, doc appts, sleep apnea test, etc and got approved. I was just waiting for a surgery date, but I got scared and decided it was too drastic. I hadn't tried eating low carb and that's what they said I'd be doing after surgery, so I decided to withdraw from the program and try to lose it "naturally" doing LCHF. I told myself if this didn't work I could still get the surgery. I know I'm only down 4 lbs, and it's only been 2 weeks, but I think I made the right choice and WLS won't be necessary.

It's wonderful that you can see the potential with this woe already! That you know you've made the best decision for your health is huge!! You're saving yourself from permanently altering your digestive tract, and no telling what other problems there could have been! I wished I'd have found this woe before I got to the point where I felt weight loss surgery was my only answer! I've accepted that I can't change the past, though! I can only change my future with the choices I make today!1

Exactly! I will never regret having the surgery but I now know there were other options and better options.1 -
I have rosacea and keratosis pilaris. After 2 weeks on this, I looked in the mirror and I noticed that, while my face still had a lot of redness to it, it had less of a rashy quality to it. Also, my arms are clearing up a little bit. My nephew has keratosis pilaris and a doctor tried to say that food doesn't affect it. Something my mom and I shook our heads at, b/c food has affected mine since it showed up during my teen years (during which a doctor tried to tell me I had psoriasis...something I believed I had for years until I figured it out on my own and was confirmed by another doctor that I didn't)3

At this point in time at the age of 65 I think 'food' is the major cause of health issues directly or indirectly. Food can encourage good or bad gut microbes. The gut flora make up is either helping lead to better or worse health is my current view.
While no food is good or evil I do think some foods encourage good gut health and some can encourage bad gut health and what food does what can vary from one person to the next.
The type and quality of fuel for a car engine can greatly impact the life and performance of a car's engine. Not all cars run on gas and not all cars run on diesel, etc.
It really cost little to no money to try different eating life styles that are known to be safe and healthy.
Had I kept eating sugar and grains I am certain my health recovery of the past two years would not have happen and I know I still have much more to learn and understand about the impact of different foods on my physical and mental health.1
