Alcohol at work events

So my group is having a summer work party at one of the VP's house's on the beach. My usual go to is Jack and Diet, but as this is a work cook out, far from where I live, I don't want to be that guy. I have asked around, and everyone is bringing beer or mixed malt liquor (twisted tea, smirnoff ice, etc). I do want to have a few drinks, but I am not a fan of bud select or mic ultra. Does any one have any suggestions for LC drinks that aren't hard alcohol?

If you don't mind getting teased by the boys, a nice Sauvignon blanc mixed with Polar seltzer. aka wine cooler. You might get labeled as "that" guy, which may or may not be worse than that guy.. Avoid twisted tea and Smirnoff etc. as they are loaded with sugar.

I think I'd just keep it non-alcoholic or if you feel you must have a couple of the low carb beers even though they weren't awesome. I don't drink beer or malt beverages because I have celiac disease but even before that I didn't care for the taste at all. I do like hard ciders but the carbs are outrageous. So it's hard alcohol or nothing for me. I'd rather not drink than drink something I didn't enjoy.

Can you be that guy with a small flask? There will probably be Diet Coke already there, I'd imagine.

    Acceptable Hard alcohol includes:
    ◾Vodka, ◾Tequila, ◾Gin, ◾Whiskey, ◾Rum, ◾Scotch, ◾Brandy, ◾Cognac

Since you don't want the hard stuff.

I found this online. I didn't realize champange could be an option.

Here are a few low carb wine and beer options to explore! Stick to dry or semi-dry wines; . The calorie and carb counts will differ depending on brand, types of grapes/growing conditions and process of fermentation, but an average is provided:

    Red Wines (5 oz. serving)
◾Cabernet Sauvignon (our favorite: full bodied, dry and tart!): 120 calories, 3.8 carbs
    ◾Pinot Noir: 121 calories, 3.4 carbs
    ◾Merlot: 120 calories, 3.7 carbs

    White Wines (5 oz. serving)
    ◾Pinot Grigio: 122 calories, 3.2 carbs
    ◾Sauvignon Blanc: 122 calories, 2.7 carbs
    ◾Chardonnay: 118 calories, 3.7 carbs
    ◾Riesling: 118 calories, 5.5 carbs
◾Champagne (although low in alcohol content, so you’d need to drink more): 96 calories, 1.5 carbs

    Light Beers (12 oz. serving)
    ◾Bud Select 55: 55 calories, 1.9 carbs
    ◾MGD 64: 64 calories, 2.4 carbs
◾Rolling Rock Green Light: 92 calories, 2.4 carbs
    ◾Michelob Ultra: 95 calories, 2.6 carbs
    ◾Bud Select: 99 calories, 3.1 carbs
    ◾Miller Lite: 96 calories, 3.2 carbs
    ◾Natural Light: 95 calories, 3.2 carbs
    ◾Michelob Ultra Amber: 114 calories, 3.7 carbs
    ◾Coors Light: 102 calories, 5 carbs
    ◾Amstel Light: 95 calories, 5 carbs
    ◾Bud Light: 110 calories, 6.6 carbs

What To Watch Out For - Avoid

Even something seemingly innocent like a gin and tonic can have over 30g of carbs- tonic water is very high in sugar. If the bartender adds artificial lime juice and simple syrup, you’re probably well over 50g of sugar in one glass. Avoid the following popular drinks and mix-ins

    Sweet Wines
    ◾Moscato
    ◾Port/Sherry
    ◾Dessert Wines
    ◾Sangria
    ◾Zinfandel

    Sugary Mixers
    ◾Triplesec
    ◾Whiskey sour mix
    ◾Blue buraçao
    ◾Sugary syrups
    ◾Grenadine
    ◾Frozen margarita mixes

Flavored alcohol (coconut rum, peach schnapps, etc.)
◾Juices (cranberry, orange, pineapple, tomato, etc.)
◾Fruit add-ins (cherries, berries, pineapples, oranges, etc.)
◾Syrups (fudge, whipped cream, fruit flavored syrups,
    sweet creams, coconut cream)

Bring a bottle of nice bourbon and share it. You will be "that guy" but in a good way.

There is a flask I could use, but I would rather be upfront with my drinking then trying to hide it...there is definitely going to be diet coke there

I'm seriously considering it, I do have to be careful though, since bourbon and I get along a little too well.

@slimzandra - Thank you for the lists! I am leaning to bud lite premium at the moment since it is about 4g per beer and it the most palatable to me

Ha! I wasn't thinking of hiding the drinking at all. More pulling the super cool flask out and mixing your own drink (and also offering to share).

Good luck with whatever you decide!

Only type of wine I am ever really into and it's the lowest carb choice. Dry and tart.

I drink vodka and soda. Add a dollop of Mio for flavor. Personally I like the blueberry lemonade Mio, but you can take several and try different flavors as you go.
Mio uses sucralose. Label says 0 everything. Soda says 0 everything. Vodka has calories.

I also do vodka and soda, with a generous squeeze of a couple lime wedges. Perfect for summer.

Anejo 100% agave Tequila on the rocks. If it doesn't say 100% agave, you are getting alcohol from added sugar syrup. Nice for sipping, separate drinks with soda water and a lime wedge.
Lite beers are just a horrible waste of calories/carbs. YUK. Like eating a cheap chocolate bar instead of a piece of Lindt 90%. ;)
