The discussion posted below is from a site all about recycling paper (topic: using paper coupons for processed foods) into low cost building material called "papercrete"..an amazing material which is used to build houses, walls, plasters..all almost free.

Someone commented this:
<snip> " ....But again, a good coupon is just like money if it's for something you
were planning on buying anyway
." < >

Reply:
Standing WAY back and looking at the big picture YES "if you WERE going to
buy overprocessed, chemically altered, high fructose junk foods that last
for years uneaten ...then we all go ahead and SAVE money, BUT ruin our
bodies over time as most Americans do not eat wisely now.

And we "papercreters" recycle types are likely to avoid the products the masses
consume, in favor or home grown, fresh real foods, right?.

So in the end we did not get to 600% rise in diabetes/kidney dialysis and
70% overweight from good nutrition...Coupons CONTINUE this national
madness..only feed the BIGFOODCORP which is NEVER held responsible, their
profit JOB is to keep foods as cheap and tasty as possible..not provide
for OUR health.

I WONDER HOW the processed foods stored on ALL those tiny "home grocery
stores", thousands of bottles of sauces boxed noodle mixes, cake mix, ALL
edible stuff. (canned foods last 20+ years, except for canned pineapple
that eat thru the metal in <10 years- true, ask me how i know!) deodorant,
toothpaste, TP, yes, those may last, but all manufactured products break
down.

I don't see how a family of 4-5 can consume all those boxes of
food on shelves, especially cereals. NOT knocking how you eat, but just
going to your friendly coupon clipper lady and getting her leftovers for
your papercrete building may be the healthiest thing to do.

Yeah, how come it's pretty rare to see coupons for eggs, cheese, etc? lol Those are about the only ones I use here. Luckily the local grocery store (87 yrs old) has specials every week and monthly coupons for the above items - and milk coupons for my hubby's coffee & cereal. There was a coupon for coconut manna the other day, come to think of it. Maybe we just have better coupons up here???

@canadjineh Here in California, they sell a coupon book called the Chinook book. It has coupons and an app for whole foods and eco friendly products. Maybe if you look up the app, you can find the coupons for your area. The book costs $20.

@landiodo, sometimes I get a flyer or email for ecofriendly cleaning products, and I have seen coupons for gluten free stuff, but the GF stuff is still processed carby crap, so not my thing.

Looks like a good app, but only good for mainly Western US - Seattle being the closest to me and even that is 8 or 9 hours away with a border crossing too.
