Keto Strip Help

I'm back to eating low carb and I started on Monday 06/13. I've been eating less than 20g of carbs a day. Last night I bought some keto strips from my local CVS and started using them last night and this morning. When I used one last night it was only showing that I was had trace amounts of whatever it is that shows your are in ketosis. My questions are.. How long does it take your body to go into ketosis? and Will drinking a lot of water (I usually drink 100 oz or more a day) cause the strips to only show trace amounts but you could actually be in ketosis?

These strips can be unreliable.
There is a chance you could be in ketosis, even when they give you a negative or trace amounts.
If you are drinking that much water, it could also be diluting the ketones you are excreting. They are basically detecting what your body is expelling. If you are super dehydrated, you can make them a deep purple - but that doesn't mean much.
How are your hunger and energy levels? I would use that as a better indicator of whether or not you are in ketosis, rather than the sticks.0 -
Well I've only been doing low carb for almost 3 days now and I would say my hunger is very controlled. I only eat 3 meals a day and most of the time I feel like I have to force myself to finish my dinner. In the energy department I would also say I feel just fine. I've been noticing that I have way more energy in the morning than I used to.0

I am also getting a metal taste in my mouth.0

Those are better signs of ketosis than the sticks, to be honest.
Read the launch pad stickie about electrolytes to prevent any headaches, fatigue, etc. It is VERY important.0 -

If you are getting trace readings, you are in ketosis. Some, like me, rarely go beyond trace readings unless I haven't eaten anything for a couple of days... That doesn't happen often.0 -
I lost 40 lbs with most of it in trace ketosis. I usually bounce out over the weekend and then slip by in during the week sometime.0

The strips are unreliable only because your hydration can effect the results. 100 ounces... You can bet your urine is dilute.1
