Carb hangover over, thank goodness

So after 3 days back on LCHF I'm feeling good again. I was at another BBQ part last night and although the pasta salad and other carb dishes looked yummy I stayed with protein and green salad. I avoided alcohol and just had sparkling water instead. I woke up today feeling great! It is a challenge dealing with eating out and parties but I'm learning. Next weekend I have two more parties to go to. 'tis the season! Once it finally warms up here in the frozen north everyone goes nuts with BBQ's and parties.

I am finding in my case eating carbs from most vegetables do not lead to carb hang over as long as I eat no added sugars or any form of grains.
I will be knocked out of ketosis for about 18 hours but nothing negative happens.4 -
How many vegetables does it take to knock you out of ketosis? I want to experiment, but wondered if maybe someone knew already.
Congrats on the willpower! I have a cookout to go to today, but they know I'm doing low carb...so it should be fine. I believe we're having steaks and salads. I imagine there will be potatoes there, but I'm perfectly content with the steak and salad. BUT...if there's watermelon, I'm screwed.0 -

I think it's different for everybody. Only way to know for an individual is to get some ketone sticks and pee on them regularly to see if you're still in ketosis.

I'm bringing my own meal....I hate doing that cause everyone assumes your in a "diet" but don't care!1

Woohooo brought my own meal....so hard to eat it when everyone around me was eating my old favs...oh and they had fries and bisquits and onion rings lol. I did cave and have one piece of fried chicken but pulled off all the breading and gave to hubby good to be back on track just a couple days off and I lost my energy and got so bloated...

In my limited experience, blood tests are more reliable - ruby red ketostix may mean you're in some state of ketosis but are dehydrated. One gallon of water down the road (and no food) and you may barely be showing trace amounts 2 hours later.... (But you will at least have learned you're not drinking enough.)0 -
After being almost solid keto for 20 months I am finding eating whole fruit and vegetables while they knock me out of keto for up to 18 hours I am not experiencing any carb hangover or water weight gains but actually experiencing more weight loss while out of ketosis. These carbs do not contained added sugar or any forum of any grain.
Now when I carb loaded on pasta back in 2014 after being LCHF for only 30 days I gained 6 pounds over night and it took 6 days to get back to the same weight. Hayley Pomroy's The Fast Metabolism Diet was what got me back into having some high carb days.
It was yesterday when I ate a boat load of slaw, grapes, strawberries, cantaloupe along with pork ribs and a fried chicken breast and one deviled egg. I had been back ketosis for 24 hours prior to this meal. I am down by 10 pounds over the last 30 days. The diet is 2 days high carbs, 2 day high protein and 3 days more or less LCHF. There is no added sugar or wheat in her diet. My major losses occur when I am out of ketosis.
About 30 days ago I started on D-ribose, nutritional yeast flakes and marine phytoplankton powder as well so that could be an factor perhaps. At the same time I lost my desire for high fats and cut out dairy then coffee.
I had maintained for the prior 12 months at 200 on very high fat low carb at 2500 calories daily.
As to how many vegetables knock me out of keto I know what I eat at a greasy spoon that knocks me out. Their beef liver and onions with three sides of vegetables will knock me out for about 18 hours.
Pomroy states it is good to change up eating times as well as ones macro.
I went keto under the influence of Dr. Peter Attia and when he moved to 100 grams of carbs daily that was new info that calls for a new decision.
Not sure what I will do long term but I am plan to get in eat so few days a week I am in ketosis.
Pomroy is an Aggie and learned a lot about nutrition when she was pre VET before moving to human nutrition/weight management field. It seems cow and horse nutrition is more advanced that human nutrition since trials with animals are not hard to get approved plus there is $$$ in producing the best animals.
