Hi all I just started a very similar running program to C25K from the book Running Made Easy which runs for 10 weeks and ends at 5k. The only difference I can see is the walk period of the runs, mine are a little bit longer and the over all duration is a little shorter than C25K.
I used to do weightlifting but since I injured my shoulder I can't really lift enough to keep me fit and HIIT irritates it. I'm hoping running can keep me fit and strong.
I'm running for fitness, fun and to lose weight. Hoping to make some new friends too so feel free to add me.

Each program is a bit different, but you'll get there just the same. Great job starting! That's a major milestone.0

Thanks I'm looking forward to my run tomorrow. My husband and dog are doing it with me so it's nice to have that time together.0

New here and preparing to start. I have been walking the past two weeks, and the last two days have added intervals of jogging. Today I checked the length of time I was able to jog and am very embarrassed by it... Only 25 seconds of jogging/running. I am using a 1/3 mile track around the park while my kids play. It's not even a track per say, just an elevated berm around the park, which is covered in grass. So it's uneven turf to boot. So not the best environment, and I don't have proper shoes yet. But I am setting those aside for pure determinations until I can fit those items into the budget. I walk about 2 miles per day. So maybe I am pushing myself too early. I hope not because I really enjoyed running when I was younger. It was such a stress relief! Anyway, Just thought I would pop in and say you are not alone, although you are probably a lot more fit than I am. I am a 37 year old with 5 kids. Have not exercised consistently (more than 3 months out of the year) in forever! So here's to 2nd, 3rd or more chances right?! ;-) @Nancy, I hope you have a great run with the hubby!0

Well, that's how you start, Chantel. A little bit at a time. Get some trail runners with good support. That should help. :-)0

You can do it Chantel, I am 40 and have never ran in my life. I have been walking 2 to 3 miles a few times a week for the last year. I used to only be able to jog for 30 seconds at a time. I just finished week 2 day 3 and I am running for 90 seconds at a time. Just take it slow, jog as slowly as possible at first, speed will come later. You can do it!0

Thanks for the encouragement!!! After reading on here, I learned that first run I attempted, I ran too fast and that is why I couldn't do the full 60 seconds. So I have slowed down since then and today I completed day 2 (I didn't take a break in between days. I know bad me!) but I not only ran it all, my average mile was 13.04!!! So I am way ahead of where I thought I was!!! :-) I just thought running meant running hard (over 5mph!). I knew one speed, but now that I know I can jog slower, it has really helped!!!
I am looking for others to follow that are just starting out too. I am full of excitement I want to share! ;-)0 -
Great job slowing down! I had the same preconception: that running should be fast. I think the first few months are as much about learning how not to run as learning how to run0
