Had anyone experienced congestion after eating carbs? I've been moderate low carbs for week and tonight ate pasta ( way too much I might add) and now take congested. I didn't know if related.

If you’re allergic to gluten, you may develop nasal congestion within a few minutes of eating foods that contain any. When gluten enters the body, the immune system mistakes the protein for an intruding substance. It reacts to gluten the same way it would to an infectious organism. Have you ever been tested for food allergies or celiac disease?

I have been congested for years, I was allergy tested for non food stuff a couple years ago and have a lot of allergies. Within days of stopping boxed and processed foods my congestion cleared up and haven't had a problem since. I'm glad I found something natural to clear it up bc I couldn't ever find meds to help!

dairy does it to my husband, who already suffers from pretty bad hay fever, then he wanders around the house with a sad "I can't breeev" face on and is grumpy and difficult LOL.

YES - but gluten also triggers migraines, so I try to avoid it, but when I do have an exposure I get the migraine and congestion and itchy eyes!!!

wow!!!! That makes so much sense, Last night I went on a binge and today I feel like my head is going to explode.... and know that I think about it, this has happened before. Just another reason to stay on track and not cheat, It is so not worth it!!!!

I have that reaction too, despite eating carbs for years and years without problems. Maybe I was just inflamed all the time and didn't notice it. I just figure congestion IS inflammation, specifically in the sinuses, right? So it makes sense that anything that causes inflammation would also cause congestion. The same reason my joints ache after I enter the carbage dump. Maybe I'm wrong--it's just the way I make sense of it.

This kind of stuff makes me think about how I used to have 3 cats years ago. I would only occasionally have some allergy issues if I got their fur all up in my face, but nothing major.
Fast forward to now, having no furry animals at all and if I pet a cat even for a minute, my nose starts to run, my eyes get itchy and it sticks with me all day! It's really bad if I have to stay around a cat for hours. Even if I don't touch it! And sometimes it happens with dogs too.

My congestion cleared up when I got off all dairy about a month ago. I realized I was only drinking coffee because of the HWC so I ditched it. I was doing about 5 cups a day of regular coffee but had ZERO withdrawal issues but I still do green tea and now only put one tablespoon of coconut oil in my first cup of the day.

Histammine build up is another candidate. Low carb diets can be high in histammines. These can trigger congestion.

I took allergy medicines, and nose sprays, for "seasonal" (chronic) allergies, but they never really helped. I have found that since beginning LCHF I don't have the constant runny nose, that I used to have. I now notice it after eating tomatoes, and many vegetables!

Ahh tomatoes, how I miss thee. Darn histammine loaded critters! Avocado too :(
