Keto breath

Any suggestions for dealing with keto breath please?

Are sugar free mints ok? Or sugar free gum? Don't want to kick myself out of keto when I've only been back in a week but am about to spend 4 hours on a plane and am quite self conscious about this!

Thanks in advance!

I eat sugar free candy but some don't. Sugar alcohols and sweeteners effect people differently but I've not heard anyone say they've fallen out of ketosis because of them.

Too much sugar free mints makes me (1) crave more mints and (2) have loose... um... poop.

If it has a bad smell it's more likely related to ammonia which is from high protein consumption.
True ketone related breath smell is sweet and fruity but slightly acetone (like nail polish remover). So it's not foul, just unusual.

Probably no one but you will even notice tbh. Take some mouthwash with you to rinse if you feel that self conscious about it.

I already just drink more water. Don't know if that really helps..

Just fyi, another simple way of controlling Keto breath is just to lower your protein intake. I've been Keto for just shy of 22 months and I've luckily never had that problem because I keep my protein fairly low.

I heard that spray breath fresheners or the under the tongue ones help and don't interfere with ketosis. Ive used the listerine and also a generic brand and it helps. I always have one in a pocket or within arms reach and have to use it fairly often when around others. I have horrible breath too, and my protein is very, very low, so I don't know why that happens, but it sure does. Friends have told me it's bad so if you know yours is, do what you can!
