Why would 10g carbs throw me out of ketosis?

I had a cup of watermelon with my ham and egg breakfast this morning.
An hour later, I used a keto stick (I do this daily), and I am out of ketosis.
=(

Testing the blood level of ketones is the only accurate way to know your ketone levels to know for sure if you are in nutritional ketosis.

So should I just assume that I'm still in ketosis? And relax?

    Yes.
Your body's hydration can give a false negative on the sticks. That's more likely what happened.

I've yet to use a ketostix or what-have-you, but am following the 6/73/21 percentages of carbs/fat/protein, and I don't see a lot of talk about it, either. Is it just me?

I was going to get the keto strips and test, but our local store was out of them. I'm glad I didn't waste my money on them, because when I got home that night I read on this forum that they are totally unnecessary.

I found they were useful for about 2 weeks... Then the ketones didn't show on the ketostix or were barely a trace. I worried tremendously about these stupid sticks so of course I researched why I wasn't showing any ketones while maintaining 15-20 mg of carbs per day; sometimes under 15. I thought OMG...something is definitely wrong with my liver!!! I found a great explanation here-http://ketopia.com/why-you-need-to-stop-worrying-about-the-color-of-your-ketostix/

"First off, we need to understand what ketostix actually measure, and more importantly, what they don’t. Generally speaking, ketostix measure excess ketones in your urine. They are considered excess, because they are removed from your serum and shunted to your urine by your kidneys. Their caloric content is thereby wasted.

Of the three types of ketones (acetate, acetoacetate, and beta-hydroxybutyrate) produced by your body, ketostix only measure acetoacetate. This is extremely important to understand, because it turns out that your body produces different quantities of these different types of ketones depending on how long you’ve been in ketosis. If you’ve been in ketosis for a while, you’re going to see a reduction in the “intensity” of what you register on your ketostix for two reasons:

1-A change in the relative volume of the ketones produced/present in your body
2-A reduction in the volume of ketones in your urine as your kidneys reduce the amount they secrete

I'd get rid of the sticks. They're not terribly accurate. I've been eating this way for several months now and yet the sticks would only show "trace" ketones, and even that would be hit or miss.

I know I'm in ketosis when my pee stinks. Lol
