He says your body reacts differently to where calories come from. Says consuming processed carbs causes your body to store excess calories. Protein on other hand triggers hormone to pull fat OUT of storage and carb heavy diets slows your metabolism. When he looked at resting metabolism of people who cut carbs vs cut fat. The lower carb people burned 325 more calories at rest per day! without exercise!

I like all the science he puts into his diet book. That said, I wasn't very successful on his diet using his book but then I wasn't following it strictly. I was more successful with just cutting carbs and increasing fats. But the studies and science about diets and nutrition is very interesting.0
