Hi all, I started LCHF today so I am clueless. I adjusted my macros so that my carb intake is only 5% and no matter what I do I seem to go over. I had a banana (idiot move) but someone suggested to me that it is my double cream yoghurt that is a problem, I have attached it. Can I h

I don't know if you can have that particular yogurt or not, the carb count has been scratched off. Are you counting net carbs (minus fiber and sugar alcohol)?
Kroger sells a low carb yogurt called Carbmaster yogurt and they have a lot of good flavors.1 -
I wouldn't subtract sugar alcohols if you're doing a net carb count. It's really meant to allow more vegetables into the diet. Not sweets.
The yogurt looks reasonable to me. Fruit doesn't really fit into a Keto diet. The banana is where you blew your carbs. Not the yogurt.
Just look at the things that you are entering and don't eat the ones that are high in sugar. Especially when compared to its fat content.
The yogurt has almost 6g sugar from the dairy, but almost 11g fat. That's not aweful. You could certainly make that fit.
But a banana is pretty much just sugar...
When you want fruit, try berries. But, you will need to keep portions in mind to not go through your carbs too quickly. Make some whipped cream from your double cream to top them with and now you have some fat to slow down the sugar reaction on your body.
Also, read the info in the launch pad about getting started and pay special attention to the post about electrolytes and the NEED for sodium.1 -
I eat full fat greek yogurt and some blackberries or raspberries as an occasional snack. They aren't unreasonably high in carbs. You just really need to balance it out with the other things you eat. I don't go by %, I just aim loosely for under 30 carbs. If I have more carbs with my meals, like veggies with lunch and dinner then I don't do the yogurt and berries. If I've had a carnivorous sort of day with just meats and fats then I know I can fit in the yogurt and berry snack!2

That's like 3.6 grams of carbs per 100 grams of yogurt, this is not a problem food. I wouldn't eat too much of it, mostly because those carbs can add up and I don't handle dairy well. It's still not the problem. 100 grams of banana is 23 grams of carbs. That's almost 7 times as many grams per 100 gram serving. It's not the yogurt that is the problem, it's people who don't know what they're babbling about.2

I'll send you a friend request and you can look at mine. I've been following my macros but a little busy recently, so you may want to go back to before the weekend to see my normal.1

I'm aiming for 50-70grams of carbs daily, sent a friend request if you want to see my diary.0
