Net or Total Carbs?

Hi! I'm new here. Enjoy the threads I've been reading. I've gotten some great ideas.

I know everyone is different but I'm still curious... are most people using net carbs or total carbs as their goal?

I use gross carbs for processed or sugary stuff but use net carbs for most veggies. I've been doing this for awhile and currently am tweaking my carb limit so of course YMMV

I keep super low carb, so I allow up to 30 total and 20net. I just mostly try to get the majority of my carbs from veggies, anyway. Even with a few servings of veggies a day, I usually keep my carbs under 20, but not being so strict allows me the occasional nuts and seeds snack or something made with coconut or almond flour. I treat them as treats, though, not daily eats.

Net. I like veggies. I also really like sugar alcohols. Lol

I feel like I don't do as well when I let the TOTAL carbs creep above 50-55. Mainly because I start craving more carbs the next day. No matter what that net carb count is. My net goal is closer to 30. So I try to keep both in mind.

i aim for 30grams total but usually am between 30-40 a day. Im horrible at math and it irritates me that MFP doesnt have an option for net carbs lol

I specifically use entries that drop Erythritol from the carb count, and then just subtract my daily total fiber from my daily total carbs. Not exactly intuitive software design, but it works.

Hi! I found in the information section in this group an add on that you add to your browser and then install a link, and now in my dairy I have NET CARBS listed beside by carbs :-)
I had to have Carbs, Fibre, Fat and Protein as my headings and then it added Net carbs automatically. It's really awesome. Takes the guesswork right out.

I use net carbs by subtracting off fibre. I don't subtract sugar alcohols, although I suppose I could. I'm just too lazy to worry about it. Net from veggie fibre allows me to eat all the veggies I can/want.

I have been subtracting fibre from the total carbs and am learning to aim for 25-35g of fibre a day. I aim for keeping the net carbs to .7x my current weight but often it is much less.

Net carbs, I try to keep my net carbs equal to or below my daily fiber intake. Usually between 25g-35g, often times my net carbs are much lower in the 10g-25g range. I've learned to avoid foods with high glycemic index/load ratings as well, so even if I do have a few more carbs in a day, it doesn't usually spike my blood sugar leading to cravings.
