So this is an interesting article but I had to cringe at the use of "high fat diet" but then mentioned it was equivelant to "eating mc Donald's 3 meals a day".
Ok Science... Can we please differentiate high fat diet from highly processed non sense food diet? Geez
Love reading about all the stuff gut bacteria sort of regulate so it's a good read despite the annoying parts.

The more I read about what lives in the gut and how key it is to good or bad state of health the more I realize that should have been my health focus 50 years ago but that was before the internet was invented and sights like MFP were possible.0

OK, I had to google the bug: lactobacillus reuteri
http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/70456-lactobacillus-reuteri-atcc-pta-6475-most-potent-thing-ever/
And I found people buying surplus breast milk from craigslist to get it. Cool.3 -
It is in the the two brands of Probiotics that I alternate. I had to google it as well today. I am not going the breast milk route however to get it.2

What they don't tell you is how does the gut bacteria get destroyed in the first place. And you can thank big Ag and US lax regulations for that. Specifically thank Monsanto and Byer. lt's the glyphosates like in Round Up that 's doing it. The GMO corn and wheat can withstand it so right before they harvest the GMO wheat and corn, they soak spray with Round Up. It kills all the weeds for the follow on season and keeps winter/fall weeds from popping up. It's great for factory farmers but not so great for people who have to eat the crap because Round Up kills good gut bacteria some of which has been indicated to be involved in autism.
I'm an organic farmer and I'm starting to think that it's not so much the carbs in wheat and high fructose corn syrup that were so making me bloat up like a pig but the chemicals poured over all our conventionally farmed GMO grain foods. The absolutely best thing you can do for yourself and your children is eat organically as much as you can. It will keep you and your family much healthier.
Since I've been farming I've learned so much about how badly conventional farming methods rely on very dangerous chemicals and poisons to make it easier to farm. Whoever thought it was a good idea to cover our foods with poisons? It just doesn't make any sense.6
