Voice problems

So in my life, my voice is vital. I require it to talk to my patients and I also sing at church every week and get involved with sporadic singing stuff. At first, I thought I was coming down with something, but it's been a few weeks and it has basically stayed the same. What is happening is I have been sporadically losing my voice. I'll be talking and it will suddenly go fuzzy, and it's making my voice crack sometimes while I'm singing. I'm not sick, I even went to the doctors to make sure nothing was wrong (like strep or something) and everything is clear. Has anybody else had this experience and is it possibly related to my new Keto lifestyle?

Sounds similar to vocal problems I had years ago, which were caused by acid reflux. If you are taking a form of magnesium which relaxes muscles, e.g., magnesium citrate, it could be causing some reflux. Hypothyroidism can cause similar problems. It can also cause the voice to deepen due to thickening of the vocal folds. I hope you get an answer and relief soon.

If not reflux.... any possibility of allergies affecting your vocal cords? (Effects from post-nasal drip, coughing, or taking drying allergy meds?)0

I didn't even know magnesium could do that. The one I take is a mix of different forms of magnesium. Once it's done I was planning to buy just a magnesium bicarbonate powder. Maybe I should do that sooner. If not reflux.... any possibility of allergies affecting your vocal cords? (Effects from post-nasal drip, coughing, or taking drying allergy meds?)
I've thought of that, and I do have allergies, but it doesn't necessarily seem to correlate to when they're bothering me. It's just random.

I would definitely look into low stomach acid and/or acid reflux. @auntstephie321 can attest to the fact that you can have Acid Reflux with little to no traditional symptoms. Even if it doesn't seem like it (and while low carb), if you ever burp after eating or go to the bathroom with slightly loosened stools pretty soon after eating, those can be lesser known symptoms and red flags. I'd definitely look into the lesser known symptoms of it, as many folks have it without even knowing. The vocal cord irritation causing the intermittent voice issues is one of them, if I recall correctly.0
