I do well for a few days and think i can handle buying a few treats for evenings but then i go mad and eat the lot, trouble is i need bananas or someting for energy on cycle rides. The other night i ate 7 energy bars that were meant for my rides xx help !

The only thing I can think to say is that you are NOT losing and gaining the same 5 pounds over and over again. It may be showing the same 5 pounds on the scale, but you are not re-eating the exact fat you burned, you are eating different foods, and you keep fighting back each time the weight creep starts. Where would you be if you weren't fighting back? 50 pounds heavier? More???
As for cycle rides, consider getting something barely tolerable. Something you can view as only fuel for rides, not an enjoyable food. Or consider going low carb. Once your muscles are rewired, you won't BONK out and need refueling... Or spend the extra money to buy only exactly what you need each time for each day. There are many techniques. I don't know what will help you.1 -
Different things work for different people, and the trick will be finding out what works for you. For me personally, the cycle of binging, then going super-basic (but without a specific plan) didn't work because I did the same thing you did- I'd start off great but then I'd get quickly bored, and I'd think I could handle a little treat but I'd end up going off the deep end. Some things that have helped are choosing healthier treats like banana slices covered in almond butter and frozen...or frozen fresh pineapple chucks blended with coconut milk...or apple slices mixed with a little cinnamon...instead of boxes or bags of less healthy things that are easy to grab and eat quickly. A great grab & go snack for workouts could be a small handful of nuts and/or fruit.
Now I'm doing a 30-day super-clean, specific regimen in hopes it will combat my binging issues. I'm hoping that by developing the habit of eating super-clean and healthy, that it won't be as hard to moderate the treats later on. Three weeks into it, I love how I feel and want to keep that feeling. I'm hoping that 1.5 weeks from now, these good feelings (mental and physical) will help me stick to eating clean and healthy most of the time but with the occasional allowance of foods that a month ago, I would have had an extremely hard time moderating. In any case, I feel more hopeful than ever, but it took me years just to be open-minded enough to even consider a strict meal plan. I will always be a believer of "anything in moderation" but I was so stubborn about it that I didn't think that maybe I needed to work my way towards moderation from the other direction!
That, and PLANNING have been key. Whatever course you decide to go with, plan! I even made an Excel sheet with a weekly meal plan, list of recipe links, and a shopping list. It was a bit of work in the beginning but has helped me so much since then! Oh, and Pinterest- SO many great recipes for anything and everything! I just save them up and pick a couple to try each week.
Sorry this is so long, but hope it helps!2
