As many of you already know, I blew the last three days with eating after closing out my diary. Glad to be able to report today is totally back on track and going FINE. My Jim is home from his trip and all is well with the world. There are two more days for me to make this week work. Come on, fellow MFPers, let's finish on a high note.3

@PamamaJane , I too have always misread your name but your reference above to the State Store might have caused me to pay more attention as a fellow former Pennsylvanian. Only in Pennsylvania does there seem to be State Stores.0

Yay fantastic you are back on track - you can finish this week amazingly and I am right with you cheering you on1 -
Good for you for pulling it back and getting back on track.
I've been having too many carbs...I logged them. Calories are under but I just feel off tract. I was exhausted last night and had a half kitten exercise session.
Today I'm back to it! I think I'm feeling g sluggish from too many carbs. My numbers are about the same but they were in the refined area of carbs instead if the fruit and veggie variety. Must not eat sugar or flour...I think I need a carb detox...0 -
Sounds like you need a plan for what to do once the bottles have been opened for next time. Since you will be replacing the now empty ones, how will you deal the next time those half bottles are taunting you?
Maybe some decorative liquor bottles? Then you wouldn't want them to be too empty because they wouldn't look as cool???3 -

No worries... today is a new day filled with all kinds of possible accomplishments... WORK IT!1 -
@PamamaJane - this thread terrific. I chuckled all the way thru it.
I am with you - Working at Keto day-by-day is a must for me as well, otherwise I am full of of all kinds of crazy rationalizations.
Open bottles of yummy alcholol taunting you!!!! hahahaaaaa! I laughed right out loud.
Even though it's a challenge, I am so happy you have such a full social life in your retirement. It sounds like you are having tons of fun up there on your mountain.
I am with you and routing for you all the way, kiddo! Good luck 'today'1 -
You've got this, @PamamaJane ! I really like @Sunny_Bunny_ 's suggestion about the half-full bottles, that's a great idea.
I have the same issue - if the bottle is open and it looks like no one is going to polish it off, or the bag of chips has just a few left, my OCD kicks in and I must...finish...! I've taken to trying to pawn things off on other family members so I don't feel I have to consume these things! But liquor is different, I can't give THAT to my kids *chuckle*1 -
I have a door that shuts over the half finished bottles and, now that I am "older", I just don't like the taste that much, except for wine and ..... oh well, it is a struggle.
Now unfinished pork rinds just call my name or a few crackers or ...... you get the picture.
I think one week challenges are a great idea. I have a blood test coming up on Thursday and somehow in my mind, everything starts after that. I have been doing slow carb (leafy greens etc) for a while but would like to drop back into keto after my blood test. So Friday am, here I come!0 -

I like the idea of decorative bottles; they would fit right in with my glass collection. I have all things glass in my kitchen -- glass back splash, glass trays, pitchers, plates, etc. And only Pyrex for baking and food storage. Thanks!0 -
A bit over on the carbs and quite low on the total calories. I'll take it!
I hope everyone is finishing up this week well and ready to give it another go for another week. Maybe I'll keep doing one week at a time until I finally get one week of seven consecutive good days just to prove to myself that I can actually do it.2 -

sounds like a perfect idea - I am with you for another week - you can do this0 -
Oh my - glad I am not alone. I have a HUGE issue with needing to "finish" off something , not to get rid of it but to open a new one. So toothpaste near the bottom drives me nuts especially if I already bought a replacement Food too - I like throwing out empty containers.
Something that helps is to split things up when I buy them - I e if you get a box of cereal, divide into serving size baggies and throw the box away immediately. I have a bucket I put single serving stuff in and its always full of lots of different things - in the fridge too. I get to satisfy my need to empty a container (ham, cheese, etc) and not by eating it . I label the baggies with the name/calories/macros.0 -

You can definitely do it! Keep that positive energy up!
Whenever I have a slight temptation I jump on MFP to look up the macros. Amazing how quickly I readjust my attention to a healthier indulgence for my body/goal.
Must admit......I do miss some nice red wine.........0 -
I did well on Monday then Tuesday it was a colleague birthday I ate the cake it was not easy to say no because I don’t want to tell them that I am on a certain diet or change of lifestyle yet. It just ruined the whole day. Today it’s a Wednesday so far so good going strong it’s never too late..1
-
@Fikile2015 it gets easier to say no after awhile. People can be so persistent sometimes and although it can be difficult, I remain steadfast and just say no thank you. I don't tell them what to eat and I don't let them tell me.
But you have a great attitude and yes each day is a new beginning! Don't let one slip up discourage you0 -
@dmariet116 I couldn’t think of a reason why I say no at that moment since it was a surprise and I didn’t want to be rude. Next time I will have a better reason. Thanks1

@aylajane Box of cereal... made from protein flakes?
LOL - they make protein cereal But it was just an easy example. I do it with lunch meat (weigh and separate when I get home from store) and protein powder, and especially anything that comes in a big bag where I have issues with portion control and recognition0 -
@Fikile2015 Lol, yes surprises seem to just pop out of nowhere when you are avoiding carbs! I always get asked, "Can't you cheat? Just this one time! It won't hurt you" I am like, yes...yes it will, lol. It is really amazing to me that no matter what way of eating you decide to follow when trying to lose weight, someone will inevitably try to get you to eat something that is not on your diet!1

You can say that again..Cheating just that one time hurts alot I gained some water weight and i am still trying to get it off. Its like temptation comes only when I am trying so hard to do something good for myself.0 -
It is a big awakening when you come to the realization that you don't owe anyone an explanation for your choices. When people at work (and I have one particular coworker who tries to sabotage me often, disguising it as "being nice") offer me things that don't fit with my woe, I just say "no thanks". That's it. I don't offer an explanation because frankly it's none of their business, and if they won't let it go "aw why not? you could just have ONE" - I politely say "no thanks, I'm good" and I walk away.
You don't have to think up an excuse or a reason, you don't owe it to them to rationalize why you're saying no, you are well within your rights as a human being to just say no!
The older I get, the lower my tolerance is for BS and the more I find myself being really blunt and direct with people. Not sure that's a good thing....hehehe!4 -
Indeed you don’t need to explain anything to anyone, today a colleague offered me a bag of Lays chips and I said “ No thanks, I am fine” she didn’t even ask why I am refusing. I feel like I have just achieved something big.3

YOU HAVE!! Good for you! Keep it that simple. You owe no further explanation.1
