Make the Better Choice (MTBC) - 07/23/16

All of us are faced with those times when making the "best" choice is something that isn't going to happen. Sometimes that is by circumstance...sometimes by limited choice...or sometimes personal preference.

DOCKANZ, a GoaD stalwart for several years, coined the phrase "Make the Better Choice" (MTBC) several years ago, and it's become an anchor for several of us on GoaD over the years. Basically, if you can't make the BEST choice...make the BETTER choice. You can, at least, do that much.

So - how have you made the better choice today?

Today, I made 3 better choices:

    1) I went to a "in person" WW meeting this morning.
    2) I ordered egg whites for my breakfast omelet, and had dry wheat toast.
    3) I created a profile on this website, and started posting again!

    How about you?

    Nice job Rip!

I planned ahead! Protien shake for breakfast, 3 SP, tuna on lettuce w/celery, onion, and a little miracle whip light, 1 SP. All so I could enjoy my piece of beef tenderloin, roasted carrots & potatoes, and glass of malbec. It was sooo good, and I still have 10 SP left for trader Joe maple sugar oatmeal, popcorn, and/or another glass of wine. And besides preplanning and loving every bite and sip, I also managed to have dinner ready while my granddaughter slept (I'm babysitting). Winning!

Wanted brisket for dinner. Just bought a half pound and brought it home to go with the other better choices. Opt for 3 oz. instead of 4 when I saw how much was already on my bread. Will now have enough for two more sandwiches instead of one.

Really wanted ice cream all week. Opted for a vegan double chocolate chip cookie instead. Less calories and a cheaper option from my viewpoint.

Great choices everyone! I went out to Chinese food with a friend yesterday night and ordered their Chinese Chicken Soup, did not have cream cheese wontons, and instead saved my cals for a small homemade cupcake (and it was delicious!)

WTG, Rachel! It is interesting the choices we make when we budget and track and which foods are really important to us.

And interesting what we eat when we aren't paying attention, that often isn't 'really important to us' or even that good!

Nice job paying attention and making choices guys!

Thank you both! Lin, I agree 100% on not eating mindfully/wasting calories. I remember I used to binge eat those awful 100 calorie packs in the mid 2000s. Those calories could have been much better spent on the real thing!
