I am still learning the lchf process and I am trying to see if there is way to set your macros to see net carbs on MFP so the numbers are more accurate? I think I am wording this right??

I just read this on keto calculator so I was wondering how to do it -
Keep in mind that in Europe food labels generally show net carbs, while America shows total carbs. Calculate net carbs by subtracting fiber from total carbs.

https://github.com/Surye/mfp-keto-userscript <-- this is a script you can install for net carb counts. This is for web only.

If you are in Europe, the nutritional information on the package already has the fibre taken out. If you are in North America, you can subtract the fibre from the total carb count to get the net carbs.

    IE.

Food label in Europe - Carbs - 6g Fibre - 7g would be negative net carbs which is not possible.

Food label in North America - Carbs 7g Fibre - 6g - 1g net carb.

I read when looking up something on Atkins that Net Carbs (in american labeling) is actually: (CARBS) - (FIBER) - (SUGAR ALCOHOL) = NET CARBS

Does anyone else know more about why they include Sugar Alcohol in their formula for figuring out Net Carbs?

Atkins does this and they do it on all there prepackaged products as well. I don't and know many people who don't but the ones that do I'm pretty sure believe it doesn't stay in your system long enough to effect sugar levels?? I don't because personal preference. Also it would be very easy for me to say way to many Adkins treats lol.

To answer the OP question--you can't set up MFP to show just net carbs if you're in North America. I pull it up on the computer and can see the total carbs and total fiber..and I just do the math.
